PS-guys, @willtravel it is not posting synonyms, it is taking two words that normally go together. Right @SteveBrickNJ ?
My game IS flexible for synonyms. Although you are certainly correct that we mostly take "two words that normally go together." Yet this is the 2,673rd post of this thread and more than a couple of times, I and others have used synonyms. I'm flexible. Thanks for asking

@willtravel I think you misunderstood what I was saying. You know your synonyms, I wasn't saying that was wrong. What I was saying is that synonyms, really aren't the point of the game
For instance you wrote waste/fritter
I should not respond with
Fritter/misue...that doesn't really make for much of a fun or challenging game, though maybe a game of synonyms could be cool where you try to find synonyms that can morph into other synoymns such as fritter/fry.
In spirit of the game Conch/Fritter goes with original rules.
Here are the rules from the OP
"2 word posts are preferred...but 3 words are ok if you are using a connecting word ( i.e. "of" or "the" )
Examples:

poster # 1 enters: hot / day
poster # 2 responds: day / job
poster # 3 responds: day / night
poster #4 responds: night/ game
poster #5 responds: game / thread
poster #6 responds: game / score

So....you can cut the 1st word and replace it with your own word.....
or......
you can cut the 2nd word and replace it with your own word.
As long as your new post includes one of the previous post's words you are good to go.
Re. using 3 words for a post, here is an example:
Poster A: Jar of Hearts
Poster B: Hearts of Gold
Stuff like that....we'll let three words slide

My OP of this game is still helpful to anyone who is new, but not surprisingly....as we approach the 2,700th post, this game has evolved a bit.
@Club Cooloholic was just trying to be helpful and encourage @willtravel to not use synonyms. Yet @Club Cooloholic was checking with me as the OP for clarification.
Synonyms are fine. Antonyms are fine. Humor is fine. Following my OP rules is fine.
