Anyone have any more news on how the store is coming along or when it will fully reopen? We’re going to WDW in October and I’m hopeful it might be finished by then.

Mouseinfo shows a few good examples of how it looks at the DL Resort's World of Disney as it will be pretty much the same and would fit well with the Springs aesthetic with brickwork and simplicty. Gone is the Eisner-ian throw every cartoon character imaginable concept..

this update is a disaster! Absolutely no reason to go in at all. No better than a new Walmart....and by the way, this section of Disney Springs is NOT supposed to look like the other newer areas at all...hello! Bad decision Disney. From yesterday in the main room. Store is much easier to navigate now and more open floor plan. Not as many characters thrown everywhere, clean and simple design. There looks to be some projectors hanging from the ceiling but not sure what their future purpose will include. I like it!

The official full reopening isn't until 2019. They just finished the 1st half so you will get to see the new look in October.

There are supposed to be some sort of special effects in the store so the projectors are probably for that.

Looking at the recent photos, the new WOD interior design definitely has an updated vibe to it. Yet, the original design just seemed to be a bit more bright and cheery to me. I always liked going through the maze of merchandise and taking my time in there to browse. (Perhaps I liked the fact that it didn't have a more stylish boutique design.)

But that's what I loved about the old design. It made the experience unique and gave it, well, character.
I'll still keep an open mind about the updates and wait until I see it in person.
