One Little Spark...
I don't know of any abandoned or abandoned looking buildings along the Disney side of I-4 and I am 100% positive that everything left over from Pop Century's initial construction was used.

Is it possible that you came in from the west side of property? There are several hotels under construction at Flamingo Crossings that could be mistaken fro something old at 60 mph.

It was a victim of the 9/11 cutbacks. Pop Century was scaled back at the same time and then partially abandoned for years. Dixie Landings resort was temporarily closed and then merged into Port Orleans to downsize operations of those two resorts. My hunch is that there was an intention to reopen it, but as the years went by the decay took over and its closure was made permanent.

So many great memories at RC though. Loved it in the 90s. It was a great watering hole during summer trips. Never got as crowded as TL and BB, so you could enjoy the slides and the Lifeguards were really cool.
