I was just reading threads on Coronado Springs and noticed that somebody stated their is no actual food court. It said that the food court is waited by staff , takes a little longer and is pricier. Is this true?

Coronado Springs has the Pepper Market. It's sort of a Food Court/Table Service hybrid.

When you enter, you're shown to a table and each person gets a card. You then visit different food stations, kind of like a food court, and order what you want. The person at the station will stamp your card with whatever you get. Your server at your table gets your drinks and clear away plates.
After you've eaten, you stop at the cashier and give them your card. They total up your order, and you pay a 10% service charge for what the server did.

If you don't want to pay the 10% fee, you can always request a "To Go" card when you first arrive. You'll get your food, they'll package it up to go, and the cashier won't charge the service fee. You can then bring your food elsewhere to eat. (There used to be a bar and lounge with seating next door, but I haven't been there since they built Rix, so that might be gone) There are also tables outside near the lake.

Pepper Mkt is not the only option anymore

Coronado Springs now has a counter service called Cafe Rix that is just down from the Pepper Market and Maya Grille, in El Centro. They have a lot of yummy bakery and dessert items, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, drinks, etc.. The food is quite good. Seating is outside, but most people take food back to their rooms.

I presume that if you're using the Dining Plan in the pepper Market you're still paying the 10% service fee?

There seems to be some confusion about this. Some people say they have and some say they don't (I know that we did not pay it when we were there in September).

Also, people should be aware, that the Coronado establishments may not be on the dining plan next year. I know that the restaurants not owned by Disney don't usually sign up until late November or December. However, there is strong indication that those at CSR (and some of the World Showcase restaurants) will not be signing up because Spring Foods (which owns them) is losing money. Fortunately, whether Pepper Market or Rix is on the dining plan won't make a difference to us as we will always stay at the CSR (we'll just eat our counter service elsewhere--we usually only eat two of them at the resort anyway). But some people may not like being able to get a counter service meal at their resort.

Would Rix and the food items by the pool not be available at CS either? Are you still eligable to get snacks in the food court, that may be a deciding factor if we stay there or not, we really want to be able to enjoy some counter service at the hotel, mainly in the morning for breakfast

I really don't know. As of now, they are saying none of the restaurants at CS would be included. But a final decision won't be made until December is my understanding. If I hear anything, I will let you know. It doesn't affect us as we usually only eat once or twice at the resort and we'll just have our counter services elsewhere (I bring little boxes of cereal with us and we always have a car so we can always get milk, etc.).
