Well, I just called to see what resorts are available for the second weekend in November--one of the slowest weeks, traditionally.... Central Reservations claimed that few people were cancelling, just cutting out a day or two to drive instead of fly...and I was told the rates were nearly double what I paid at the last minute in August when the parks were full.... I think the tail is wagging the dog, here....

Something doesn't jive....does it?
Supply and demand means nothing to Disney? Someone needs to inform CRV that Disney is crying poverty cuz of unoccupied rooms.
You can always stay with Mr. Promey and check out his pin collection.:slurp:

I know what you mean, Mighty. You'd expect that you'd be able to get a really good deal right about now but that simply is not the case at Disney. We were looking at going around the same time as you and weren't impressed with the selection or the rates at Disney.

That would be nice if we both could just stay with Mr. P., eh Mighty? Tramp, do you think Mr. Promey would let me check out his pin collection if I promise to wash my hands first? :animwink:

One thing to keep in mind is that Disney can easily reduce the capacity of its hotels by closing down parts of them. IE: Close a few of the bulildings at the Polynesian. Close the top floors of the contempoary. By doing this, they don't have to pay the workers to clean/maintain these rooms, etc. This severly affects the supply/demand ratio in their favor. Demand is going down? Okay, we'll just drop the supply. They can spend less to maintain the hotel, and still charge high prices (as people are reporting they are doing). I don't know for a fact that this is happenning - but it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case.

That is done in every hotel, not only at Disney! When u assign rooms, you don´t go placing guests all over the floors. According to the arrivals, floors are closed for periods of time and save on power, a/c, labor, etc. That´s why sometimes when u get to a hotel, it could be really empty, but your room won´t be ready because not all the hotel rooms are open. ;)
