7 Days Western Caribbean on the Disney Fantasy is as follows:

June 7,21
Jul 5,19
Aug 2

Inner stateroom 278 points per person
Oceanview 310 points per person
Room w/Verandah 352 points per person

It is a very expensive use of your points IMO, I think you would be better off renting your points out and using the cash to pay for the cruise.

Love love DCL :)

I think last year there were some cruises with special point values for DVC members, significantly less than cruises usually take. No guarantees they will continue this year, or that they'll be at dates that are convenient for you.

How do you rent out your points? I'm new to this DVC think just joined last summer. Has anybody actually done this before. What's the dollar value per point?

Check out Davids dvc rental online. They facilitate the transaction between you and renters, you get I think 11 of the 14 buck per point rental fee, they get the other 3. Or you can do it all yourself, except you're responsible for any problems with the renter wanting to haggle or switch dates or cancel if you can't switch dates or add dining plan or delete dining plan and get money back from you etc. IMHO it's worth the commission for someone else to handle all that.

Points for cruise is just not a good way to spend points and not sure if the average owner could do it. Most people I know have around 200 points some have more some have less from the owners I know if u have 300 points you have to bank and borrow to even get close. I know there r people that can do it with points but I would rather just pay out of pocket.

You can pay for some with points and others with cash for a DCL cruise as well. We paid cash for our 3 kids, but used points for my wife and I. We spent 284 points for a 4 day cruise. I agree that you can get a better deal by renting the points and just paying cash for the cruise though. At $11/pt we would have pocketed about $500.

Good to know I was not aware you could combine $ and points for DCL. :)

I only have 210 points so not enough to use on a cruise.....well unless I left the wife and kids at home...Hmm....now there is an ideal....

I have used Davids before and they were very professional and they communicated real well and I would definitely use them again. Even though they do a lot of the leg work with finding renters getting their vitals and collecting payment, you are still responsible for contacting DVC and setting up the rental and adding extras such as DDP.

How long does it usually take to sell your points? Has anyone had any bad experiences? Thanks

Are you talking about renting or selling. The post seemed to be towards the topic of renting so I will answer that way.
I have only rented my points once and I did it through Davids. I had no problems at all. It took less then a week for me. Not sure if that is the norm. I got 50 % of my money when the renter agreed and the other 50% on the day of check in. I had a Paypal account which made it much easier. When they find a renter they send an email out with the general info to different people renting their points then the first to accept gets to rent their points. They then send all the info such as names and addresses of the renters, you call DVC to set it up, I said I was letting family friends use it instead of coming right out and saying I was renting it, not sure how they would feel about it. Later on they wanted to add the DDP so Davids called me up with Disney GC numbers then I called DVC to add the DDP. The whole experience was quite easy.Contact Davids through email I'm sure they would answer all your questions they are very good at responding to questions or emails.I would definitely use them again if I was renting my points.Which I would definitely do if I went on another Disney cruise. I will never use points to cruise again, its just not a good use of your points.
