cruise newb questions

never been on a cruise before, but for the price i used to pay for a 12 day in park vacation in wdw i could have got the largest suite on the ship and still had money left over, lol. what i want to know is are all resteraunt prices on board ship included in the price of the tickets, or is it a seperate charge? what about a passport? is it needed on a cruise ship? im single, have no kids.

All normal food for breakfast, lunch and dinner is included, I say normal as there are adult restaurants such as Remy and Plao that if you wish you can book and there is a fee.

Soft drinks with meals and also from the pool deck service station are free.

Room service, food normally is free, bar pre packed items such as candy, and tea and coffee free, but cans of soda with room service attract a fee.

Passports depend on the cruise but Photo ID is required for all over 18.

Be advised that I believe Disney Cruise Lines charges rooms based on two in the room. So for the price you pay as a single you can take another person with you for about the same price. Anyway, all dining rooms onboard the ships are free besides adult only restaurants, those will have to be booked in advance and do coast a fee. Disney suggest using a passport, it is easier… they really don’t like birth certificates anymore. If you go, we know you will have a great time!

Well that's exciting! You must do WDW right, lol.
As stated above, the only separate charge for restaurants are the adult only restaurants - Palo and Remy. Alcohol is extra, and a few packaged snacks you'll see for sale.
A passport is not needed on closed loop cruises which is any cruise that begins and ends in the same US city. For those cruises, an official birth certificate and government issued photo ID will work. :)

While you don't need a passport on most Bahamas and Caribbean cruises, some folks obtain a passport in case of an unforeseen emergency that requires you to disembark and return to the US by air. And as TDF said, the cost of a cabin for a single passenger is almost the same as 2 adults. Since you love Disney and seem to do it up well, you'll love their cruise ships! There are plenty of adults only areas - lounges, bars, pool and deck area, spa, special restaurants.

Getting a passport is just a good idea. While you won't need it to board the ship, it is considered true "international" identification and proof of citizenship.

Two reasons why it's important if you are leaving US soil.

1) If you needed to be transported due to (forbid) a medical or other unforseen emergency, without a passport, you will not be able to travel.

2) If something happened (again, forbid) while you were at a port of call (really...ANYTHING...could happen from domestic unrest to criminal acts...unlikely, HIGHLY unlikely...but possible)... The US Passport is the only official documentation that is internationally recognized as proof that you are a US Citizen, and if you ever had...for whatever reason...need to utilize the services of our Diplomatic Corps (Department of State) you will need to have that proof.

So, in short, go ahead and get it. It doesn't take very long, and isn't that expensive...and it last 7 years. So, to me, better safe than sorry!

Man, there is free food at every turn pretty much...if you can get up early enough (630 am) you can have the back of the boat to yourself and have a nice, quiet ocean-view meal...

While DCL does not offer free alcohol, it is one of the few cruise lines that has no problem with you bringing your own on board (as well as having plenty for sale).
