OK, need to vent….

My wife and I are leaving on April 29th on a 3 day Disney Cruise. We wanted to upgrade from a category 11 to a category 9 since we noticed the prices had gone down and it would only be a 50.00 difference. However when my travel ageant called the cruise line they were told we would have to cancel the old reservation get a cancelation charge and rebook for the current price. I was totally fuming when I heard this and did not think it was the best customer service for wanting to upgrade.
My travel agent was on the phone with them for over 40 minutes trying to fight for us but no luck.

Wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions..?

Unfortunately DCL is pretty hard lined about things once you get inside the cancellation penalty period.

If there are still cat 9's open now, odds are decent that there will be some when you board. I'd get to the terminal as early as possible (around 10) so you can be among the first to check in. After you check in you can go to the supervisor desk to ask about upgrades.

If there are upgrades available, you'll pay a drastically reduced price for them, so maybe you'll get lucky there.

Sounds like you had already paid in full and are within the 75 day penalty period?

Had your travel agent advised you of the penalties once inside that date?

Cruise deposit, cancellation penalties and fees are much stricter than hotel/resort penalties.

BTW, you will also find that when Disney Cruise Line does offer last minute booking deals they don't apply to those with existing reservations - and they usually do it within the 75 day penalty period !!
