You've heard wrong...
No credit card needed, making your reservation, just call WDW-DINE and you will get a reservation number for your date and time...
That's it... :D

However... They do keep a history, if you decide not to go, call them and cancel your reservation... a no show could result in a note behind your name in the reservation data base...
Which could result in having problems with possible next reservations...

Corrus, you're wrong.

CRT does require payment in full at the time of booking. There is no reservation database with names and notes.

If you have DDP, they need your reservation number and they will still need the credit card number as a hold. If you cancel less than X number of hours prior (24, 48, or 72, I forget which) or are a no-show they will charge you, dining plan or not.

Oops!!! I didn't know that... I've never done Dining Plan... I thought it worked the same way as all the other ressies...

So... learning all the time... :D

To clarify...

To book a meal at Cinderella's Royal Table (Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner) we do required a credit card payment in full at the time of booking. This location carries a cancellation penalty of the full cost of the meal if cancelled within 24 hours of your dine time or if the Guest does not show.

Also this reservation is non-transferable, the Guest who's name appears on the reservation must be present with photo ID in order for your party to be seated. The credit card must also be in the name of the Guest on the reservation (no third party credit cards can be accepted.)

If you are on a Disney Vacation Package that includes meals, your credit card number will be still be required at the time of booking. It is held as a guarantee and and is only charged if you cancel within the penalty period or if you do not show.

The problem is that I never make that kind of reservations...
We only make reservations for Le Cellier...

Is that because you only ever eat at Le Cellier or it's just the only place you want to be sure of getting in? If the former, WOW! I keep meaning to eat there [next trip, I promise!], but always have forgotten when I'm booking ADRs. Maybe psychologically I'm blocking because I'm from Canada and want to try other stuff? Or maybe I'm just nuts... :p

Whaaaat?

I just booked dinner for my mother and stepfather at CRT for their trip. The trip is a gift that DH and I are giving them, and dinner at CRT (so that they can use their TS credits elsewhere), is part of that gift.

The reservation is definitely in thier name, but my credit card has been charged for their meal!! The CM didn't say that there was anything wrong with this, and the charge has already gone through on my cc.

[rant] Seems that this would be an amazingly inflexible policy... I know what they're trying to do (limit no shows and ADR-swapping), but this seems to be an odd way to go about it. *sigh* Then again, this would be the THIRD time I've been messed with by a THIRD branch of TWDC in the past month, so I guess I should be getting used to it. [/rant]

JP PLEASE TELL ME THEY'VE CHANGED THE POLICY!!!! :brick:

I would call WDW-DINE and ensure that there's a note on the ressie saying you're buying them dinner as a gift and will not be present yourself. I'm sure there won't be a problem.

Will your parents have anything to worry about, or have any problems dining? No, as long as their name appears on the reservation they are fine.

Will you have anything to worry about, or will your credit card be charged properly? No, and your credit card should have already been charged without issue.

Will the Cast Member have anything to worry about? Well they most likely will be coached as to policy and procedure, as this is a somewhat comon mistake. (This is one of only a few locations with this policy in place.)

This policy is simply in place to protect both the credit card holder, and Disney. As long as you agree to pay for this meal, and your parents agree to enjoy this meal, I would not worry about it.

 I realize I'm getting the short end of the stick with our arrangement, but yes, they definitely agree to enjoy the meal (although, they're making squawking noises about the fact that we're paying for it, to which my answer is "deal!" ) So, I guess there shouldn't be any major problems. When I'm at WDW in two weeks I'll make sure that there is a note on their ressie that this is a gift!

Thank you for putting my mind at ease JP - you rock!!!! :sohappy:

it actually has nothing to do with the Dining Plan at all. It's just the way it's done with CRT, same with Hoop Dee Doo Revue, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, Fantasmic dinner packages, and maybe some others. I did Hoop last year, doing CRT in November, neither time on the Dining Plan, both times had to pay in full at time of reservation.

I never booked Hoop... or any show for that matter...

We just returned from WDW and had eaten at CRT. Yes, they required my credit card when booking the res. They did not ask for photo ID when we checked in. I didn't have DDP, but I did have the Disney Dining Experience card. I don't know why, but instead of issuing a credit to my credit card for the discount, they gave my the amout of my discount in a Disney gift card, which magically turned into a new Princess hat for my niece :-)
