I think it might depend on if the Brazilian/other South American tour groups hit. They're the reason WDW ever gets any crowds at all in the summer. They may be back with a vengeance. If they stay away, August will be a ghost town. Even still, late August might be getting out of their season.
While most domestic families aren't exactly thrilled about the idea of going into the belly of the beast and going to Florida in the summer, some may tough it out because it may be one of the only ways to get their kids down there without taking time off school. But if we're talking late August, most distracts will be back in session by then. From what I understand, there's a big push to get kids in earlier and earlier to up the distracts stats when it comes to standardized testing -- the earlier they can start teaching them for the tests the better.
