Crowds in Early June

I'm leaving a month and a day from now for WDW from Houston. It's the day after school lets out for summer for my kids.

I know that schools around the country tend to get out later than we do in Texas, but I'm guessing that's even more pronounced this year because of makeup days from this very cold, icy and snowy winter around the country.

Does that sound right? Any chance that impacts crowds for my family from June 7-14? Asking more to get a sense from those from other parts of the country who might be aware of those makeup day situations.

Most southern schools are finished the week before Memorial Day. Your week will be crowded, all weeks during the summer are; just be patient and enjoy your vacation!

Yeah, I've been a million times this time of year....we typically get a break because the schools up north aren't out yet. But toward the end of the trip, we see more people as more schools are out. This year, there are schools throughout the country that have makeup weather days..moreso than usual, by far, as I understand it.

We traditionally travel for 11-14 days between May 30 to June 14 timeframe. It really isn't bad. The crowds are manageable, especially compared to mid June through August. The heat and humidity are considerably better as well. Just plan for it, be flexible, eat a bit off the standard times and stay during the rain. It's always amazing to me how the crowds disappear when one of the many downpours begins.

I'm in Iowa, and most schools around here are getting out between Memorial Day and June 6, even despite the number of make-up days tacked onto the end of the year (my district was originally set to be out May 20). I'm not sure if we represent "the North", but hope the info helps.

Sorta local....Miami-Dade schools last day = June 6. Those within driving distance might impact you more than make-up days in other parts of the country since like @tmstephe said, a lot of them have days built in. Pure spec but...

I live in Houston. I own humidity. :)

Actually, the climate in Orlando and Houston is nearly identical.

We live in Nebraska and this year we are actually getting out of school a few days earlier than usual. We had a bitter cold winter but not that much snow to close our schools. We were closed a few days but that was due to bitter cold temps not snow. We are also going to Disney the same time frame as you are and hoping for ok crowds. We have never been in June so I am a little nervous about what to expect for temps and crowds.

did a little research on my own:

Boston Public Schools aren't out until June 25

Chicago Public Schools aren't out until June 20

NYC Public Schools not out until June 26

Philly Public Schools not out until June 19

Certainly that impacts crowds during the timeframe we're there.

Suburban schedules are going to differ as well though - like in Chicago, the burbs are done 6/10. Just go and have fun!! Mornings are slower and if you can get there a little after rope drop, lines aren't bad. Then FP+ some afternoon if you plan on staying at the parks....or go back to resort and enjoy pool, etc....then head back in the evening when it's also not as hot/crowded.

I just wanna make clear...i know to go and have fun! :) I've done this trip a million times...and at this time of the year. Heat isn't a factor and neither is humidity..it's the Briar Patch for me. Fourth generation Houstonian.

Just trying to get a sense of whether the cold weather make up days around the country are going to impact crowds during that time.

Wait...one thing I'm not sure about. Should I go and have fun? Asking for a friend.
Yeah I hear ya and fingers crossed for you. ;) In reality, not sure other than being able to say Chicago's public last day is June 16 and some burbs are ~June 10 (firm has office there and used to work out if it)...and hope more people get you feedback from local trends to get you a better idea. Seems like many have made adjustments to other days and had some snow days built in.

Just like you, we will have fun no matter what but just curious about the crowds.

Crowds will be what they are. You won't know for certain until you are actually there. If you set an expectation that it WILL be crowded, then you won't be frustrated if it is (and pleasantly surprised if it isn't. )

I'm in San Antonio and going the same time. I was wondering the same myself. Planning for crowds and will be surprised if it's not too crowded. Thanks for the post because it does look like at least a few places will be out later.

But remember to just relax and have fun, oh wait I think that was mentioned;)

Good luck to you.
