Crowds for Pop Warner

Hey everyone! This is my first post ever, so I hope I ask this right.

I'm going to Disney first the first time in December and I just found out that it is the same week as pop warner. Can anyone tell me how the crowds will be at this time?

Thanks! :)

In my experience, the first few weeks of December are usually pretty dead in all the parks. But the week of Christmas and through the first week in January are brutal. So it all depends when during December you are coming (I'm not sure which week Pop Warner comes to town).

And garyhoov is absolutely correct, the All Star Resorts are going to be unbearable. Several years back, I worked at the All Star Music Resort on the College Program.... Pop Warner/Cheerleading times are miserable for Hotel CMs. The poor housekeepers!!!! Cleaning 18 rooms of teenagers in 8 hours???? Let me find an appropriate emoticon: :hammer: :hurl: :brick:  :veryconfu Yes, that about says it!!!!

The value resorts can be crowded during the morning and evenings in the food court and bus stops. The parks are not really impacted by the groups at the Pop Warner. You will see groups in line together and they can be loud and obnoxious -- general teenager stuff.

I was there last year during Pop Warner time. The Value resorts will be very busy, the parks busier than you would expect (you can't just walk onto rides!). I feel that crowd levels in early December have been rising over the past several years. We tend to not go at that time of the year now, mostly because of crows levels and rather crappy weather.

I'll be there December 4th - 10th. I'm staying at POFQ. It sounds like there is nothing to worry about. I have just planning for this trip for a while and didn't know if it would affect my trip. Thanks for the advice. Anymore advice is very much welcomed :)

And thanks for welcoming me! It's good to be here!

I'll also be checking in to the All Stars during "Pop Warner" time. I don't really mind the crowded resort...wouldnt bother us too much(we're there so much we've seen and heard it all...cheerleaders cheering outside our room ect.)....I am trying to switch resorts due to the bus crowded thing and there is just nothing avail. for the time that we'll be there:brick: . I'll keep trying though! Us fla res. are known for persistency;)

BEWARE of your POFQ Resort. When I called the disney sports travel package agency thing.. they said that so far the resorts being used are :

1. One of the all star resorts.. i forget which
2. One of the Port Orleans resorts.. i forget which (fq or rs.. i think fq)

You want to CALL THEM ALL THE TIME and change/upgrade ur room if they schedule pop warner kids to ur resort.

I am staying at the pop century.. but i got the funds ready for a quick move and i call often to see if the pop century has been added the the pop warner vacation package things.. i'll post the number once i dig it up. So far pop century is safe.. anyone know if the pop warner kids breached the pop century last year.. or were they contained to the all-stars?

Its a shame for the port orleans too.

Im thinking of moving up to animal kingdom lodge..

It's really not that bad. You're making it out to be the end of the world. I've stayed at the All Star resorts 2 or 3 times during Pop Warner and it's not as bad as you are making it sound. In fact, at Pop Century, we had an extended family occupying a couple of rooms that caused much more problems last year than we've ever had from Pop Warner participants.

OKAY.. i just called again and found out :

Only 3 resorts being used so far for Pop Warner and they are :

ALL STAR SPORTS
ALL STAR MUSIC
PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE

The guy said that last year they used more off disney resorts than in years past so that could be good news if they continue that trend.

Its also possible, he said, that they will add more resorts such as the ALL STAR MOVIES, POP CENTURY, PORT ORLEANS FQ, etc.. but the most concentrated areas of pop warner kids will be in the ALL STAR SPORTS, ALL STAR MUSIC, and PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE as they have rooms put aside to fill them up first with pop warner kids.

What happen with that family?

Typical group of people that were oblivious to anyone else around them... lot of noise and smoking right outside the rooms that we had to walk through. You just can't plan your way around the rude people. It happens, so just try to enjoy your trip and don't let the actions of others dictate your moods.

When I stayed at PO-R the pop warner kids stayed in the Magnolia Bend area. Alligator Bayou was free of pop warner.

I'll be there too at that time...

I am booked into ASM from Dec 2-6th so if it's crazy, I can at least try to remember that I'm moving to the Grand Floridian from the 6th to the 12th...:) . I go on vacation in the summer where a whole family (and I mean a WHOLE family takes over the other half of the cabins where I stay) so I figure if I can deal with them for a week, I can deal with some cheerleaders etc.

I plan to go out for breakfast (mostly at the parks or close by) when I'm at ASM & I have my car with me as well, so that will help.

I found www.popwarnerchampionship.com also online. That may help to see what is happening. I think that we may have some crowds at the park, but I hope that they are going to be involved in other activities over at the World of Sports.

If you stay at the All stars -- DON'T stay at the premium rooms -- noise at the pool can be VERY loud VERY late. As one of the other posters stated -- it's not so much the kids that are a problem -- it's the obnoxious moms and drunk dads lounging at the pool. Expect the pool to be busy all the time -- and the bar. If you eat breakfast at the resort -- eat early. the food court will be packed if you don't.
