I'm more interested in the origin of your name.:lookaroun

I'm headed there the 30th myself, and I was wondering the exact same thing (not the origin of her name, that is, but the crowds). Anybody got any idea??

 Ohh wow, what could be better than Ringing in the New Year with Illuminations?!?

Well since I'm in the Holiday spirit, I'll give the "right out of the cast member's mouth" facts. If you want to spend New Years eve in one of the parks remember this "GET THERE EARLY". For example be there at opening or an hour before.

For Chirstmas eve, Xmas, New Year's eve, New Years day - The parks are all expecting full attendance.

The crowds on the off days leading up to the main events tend to only really hit high amounts in the late afternoon. For example, MGM really starts to pack them in after 3 pm. So if you get there at opening, you could have everything done (but S of Lights) before 3. Epoct same thing, the only chance of getting a good seat (like not standing) is if you are the dinner package.

So the holiday theme this year is Get there early!

Hope this has helped, this is the greatest time of year to come to the parks!

PS Go on star tours and look for the guy with the lightsaber, you may just find Vash....

Enjoy your trip!

Nice name Evil-nun...

now to answer your question:: (not that Vash did a bad job)

You are arriving at the time of year most of us Locals dread the most...I-4 is going to get more and more crouded...and the parks are going to be FULL. Seeing how it is "the season"...dont expect to be able to just waltz thru and expect to get by...you are going to have to prepare for large crouds...long lines..and lots of aggrivation...

Here's a tip for you..If you drive yourself...after the park closes...just hang out a bit and wait for the majority of the cars to leave....rushing will not get you out faster...and you may as well be standing while the zoo of cars are leaving then to me stuck there honking your horn..

Question for VASH or other cast members

Our flight arrives in Orlando at 10:30 am on New Year's Eve. Getting to the parks early is not possible. What should we do when we arriveat WDW, let's say, noonish? We're staying on site and have priority seating for dinner that night at Epcot. Should we even attempt to enter any park that afternoon? I think we're guaranteed admission because we stay at a Disney Resort but not sure how that works.

Well if the park your trying to get into is "full" than they legally can't let you in because it would be a safety hazard. Once your on prop. It's easy to find out if any of the parks are "full". Just check with the front desk at your hotel. Disney is very good about getting the word out when one of their parks are full! You should be able to get in to epcot around noon, but it's going to be cutting it very close. Parks tend to fill up any where after 2 to 3 pm. BUT it might happen sooner or later, this is just an average.

Make sure to check with the front desk before you go to a park! It will save you alot of time!

Enjoy your trip!

Nowinc - Thanks for backing me up there, I forgot about transportation and such! I'm so use to taking all the back roads to get to the parks I forget about "real" tourist traffic!

hehe...no problem...I only remembered about it because i am forced to go on I-4 on my way to work every day...and around "the season" I need to get my butt out the door a bit earlier to beat the traffic...

Any rumours about Early Entry being reincarnated? I can't believe they didn't have it available this week when the crowds are so high.:(

doesn't look to be happening in the NEAR future...disney has their hours up through February 28, w/ Epcot still opening at 10...disney has, however, said that the postponement of Early Entry is not permanent, so we'll just have to see if crowds stay as high as they should be in January...if they drop off again...I'd say no. Hope they have e-ride nights in January and February...
