Crowd calender

Hi Disney friends! Reviewing two different sites for crowd calendars in October. Amazing how they are showing two total different predictions for actual Halloween day at MK. Any input on visiting MK during the day ( will not be attended party on that night)?! Not sure what to expect with crowds. Thanks in advance :)

I have been to MK on Halloween Day twice, 2010 and 2011. The reason you are seeing a variance in crowd calendars for that day is because some may tell you not to go there due to the shorter hours that day...they think you may feel like you wasted money going there to only be kicked out at 7:00. Other calendars recommend it because so many guests use that early close hour as a reason to go elsewhere that day...why go to MK when I have to leave at 7, when I could go to Epcot and stay til 9 or later?

I prefer to go to MK on a day they are hosting a party or closing early for some reason, because of reason #2 above! It is FAR less crowded on those days! We always arrive to MK at least 20 min before rope drop, and on those party days the crowd waiting to get in is minuscule. We walk on to all the big rides, and find really reasonable waits throughout the day. FP return times aren't pushed out too far, like many of the days surrounding it that are nonparty days.

We have also gone to MK on days around Halloween that were also party days. Halloween Day was a little bit busier than the other days we went, but really, really manageable. That day's party will sell out, and many people start coming in for it at 4:00. Main Street is a madhouse from 4'ish on, but inside the park really isn't busy at all by that time. Ride waits between 5 and 7 are really low, as most people that aren't staying head out, and those that are staying are finding something to eat so they can get in character lines early. It really is a good and fun place to be on that day!

BTW, I second the easywdw rx above! Been using his info for a couple of years now, and his stuff is good as gold :)

That is SOOO helpful!! Thankyou very much. Makes perfect sense to me, now that you have explained it. We plan to go to party that week ( which I'm sure will be crowded enough), but prefer not to visit on actual Halloween night. Sounds like an awesome plan to me. Again, thank you.

We use touringplans religiously, but I also cross-check at easywdw. You have to understand where the recommendations come from for each site. Touring Plans crowd level calendar is based mainly on projected wait times for rides using actual data, whereas easywdw seems to take into account a broad range of factors. They're both helpful, but we have always had success with TP. I've compared easywdw to TP for our trip coming up in June, and they are almost identical in their park recommendations for each day, although their crowd level numbers are higher.

I hear people complain about TP's crowd level not being accurate at times, but usually it's people saying the park "feels more crowded than a 5". It's not about how many people are expected to be "in the parks", but more about how long you can expect to wait in lines.

Josh at easywdw does a very thorough job which I think is second to none. If you read his blog, he often times will go to whichever park he most recommends as well as the park tp recommends. Sometimes he's right, sometimes he's wrong...but seems to be more right than wrong!

So I vote easywdw...and it's free ;)

Free is ALWAYS a good thing. I also like his blog, reading it I think.. yeah, that makes sense;). But we also always get park hopper feature so I we run into unexpected crowds we can easily change plans and move over to a less crowded park.
