Criticism of WDW

When reading these forums and other WDW websites I see a lot of harshness towards Disney and the World in particular, people saying they are being cheap, not doing enough, etc... I have been going every year for the last 10 years and I have never come away disappointed. Could they do more? Yes. Could some experiences be better ? Yes. But in their defense they are undertaking a ton of projects currently. Three huge land expansions (Avatar, Star Wars, And Toy Story), the almost completely finished Disney Springs, more major refurbs then they have had in ages, multiple new shows and performances and more. Disney world to me is a magical place and always will be, I believe many of the people on here feel the same. My favorite parts of these forums to read are the special moments and magical things people encounter and experience at WDW. Lets focus on those a bit more and maybe ease up on the "Disney is cheap and garbage now" hate.

It's an internet forum....pure and simple.

I personally feel Disney has declined for our own personal experience for reasons which I have expounded upon repeatedly. Most poignantly is the incessant need for over planning every minute of every day and the inability to freestyle. Also, the constant need to have electronica in order to obtain "the best possible experience". Are there things I still love about WDW...you betcha. Are there areas I feel let down on for my vacation dollar that I feel they could do better..yes, as well.

It's not perfect...the level of perfectness varies from person to person and all of those who feel one way or the other should feel free to speak up. Perhaps...just perhaps the level of discontented posts and voices on this forum is an actual indicator of guest satisfaction though as well. Thoughts to ponder.

I think there is plenty of focus on things Disney does well in these forums. Just look at all the trip reports, advice given, etc. It's also important to hear the opposite -- things Disney is doing wrong, advice for others on what to avoid or where to spend their money. That's what an open forum is: a place where others can speak their mind. You'll find whatever you are looking for on this forum and that is why I love it. If you want to complain about Disney cutting corners? WDW Magic forums has your back. You want to share an awesome trip? WDW Magic forums has your back. You want to start a Disney rave meet-up? WDW Magic forums would probably have your back for that too.

If you come away from your trips with seeing nothing wrong, having nothing happen to you, then that's all the better for you. But for the others, these forums (and others) are a place for them to vent and hopefully come together with others so things get heard. Keep reading your favorite parts of the forums, but know that the other negative parts are just a part of what happens in life. Nothing is agreed upon 100% of the time and that is ok.

From another topic:
Having an opinion that things are not being done right does not mean that person isn't a fan. Visit some sports forums, and you will see a very similar thing. Die-hard fans of sports teams frequently criticism the decisions of the management. It doesn't mean they aren't a fan. In fact, some who are able to criticize are actually the most passionate of fans.
You see, everyone here has opinions.

WDW is fantastic. Phenomenal! Build so well you could destroy half of it and triple your prices and still fill it to twice above capacity!

Unfortunately, this is probably close to true as long as the Magic Kingdom was in the half that survived. In my opinion, if the Magic Kingdom and the outdoor bar and restaurant known as the World Showcase were destroyed, the resort is toast.

I think the title of the post naturally attracts the critical because it is an unintentional criticism of the critics. I get it though. I naturally look at the dark too so focusing on what is great about WDW gives me a break from the real world. Isn't that the main point of Disney? Joy and Fantasy?
Whenever we see something negative it makes me mad too. but I try ti Imagine hoe six flags or universal would do it and suddenly Disney looks so much better. Still itching for WWOHP though. Very exciting all the new thing coming to WDW right now.

Have you ever stayed at a Universal property? WDW is great but Universal has really stepped up their game. Harry Potter was a game changer and Disney while awesome has nothing on the immerssive level of Diagon Alley.
