How did the whole rumor that Walt Disney was creogenically frozen start? I heard he was cremated and don't believe the frozen rumor to be true. Does anyone have any info on this?

From what i heard, doing extensive research on it. They had plans to try and freeze Walts brain for research, literally to see if he was so successful because of some. . thing. . with his brain. But it's all rumor that it actually happened.

My brothers, wife's sister SAYS (probably not true) that she works at a med facility that tried to buy the brain. . . Probably not true though

as much as we all wish he was frozen hes not-i think the rumors started because he actually showed interest in this procedure.he was talking to scientists about it when it was first introduced but he never decided to do it-an interesteing note i spoke to a co-worker who did some research in college that said for cryogenic preservation to really work the person needs to be frozen right BEFORE death not after.if u freeze a dead body your just freezing dead tissue and the technology at the time couldnt fathom reviving dead people but might be possible to freeze a terminally ill person then revive them when a cure was found-i think this was one of the main reasons why walt didnt do this because he would need to be frozen before his actual death-this is just what i have heard im no means a scientist so dont quote me

They made a joke about it on the Oscars. I forget who said it, but he said (referring to the new catergory for animated films) "Walt Disney would have a big smile on his face if we wasn't frozen." :lookaroun

HeeHee...

This reminds me of a joke/skit on an old HBO comedy series "not necessarily the news"..

The announcer said something like "And now.. for the last time anywhere, Disney on Ice!"

Then you see a spinning coffin sliding across an ice rink. ;)

hehehe

I believed that too, untill I went to the International Program. After Traditions, we had three days of reading books. One with the history of the parks, and Walt, and the company, one with rules and regulations, and other with safety issues.
And thefirst thing my mentor did was kill the rumor. They even showed us a picture of his grave and stuff. He was actually cremated.

Hey Rodrigo!
Did they give you these books? Or did you only borrow them for those days? I am really interested in the story of parks, and Walt himself. I have read some books on Walt, and watched "The Man Behind the Myth", but I miss some parks trivia. Do you have anything to send me?

Kisses for you all!!!

Hey Rodrigo, I'd love to get a hold of those books some how as well. That is if the public can get their hands on them

I don't think he's frozen and stored under Cindarella's Castle. I went down to the tunnels one day and in the area under the castle, we were looking for "secret doors" that are rumored to be there. We didn't see any. We also went around calling out Walt's name. He didn't answer. I think its all a joke. :p

C'mon. Everybody knows Walt wasn't cryogenically frozen....He was freeze-dried! That way, when a cure was found, all they would have to do is add water......hence, the reason for nothing being done with the 20k lagoon. J/K!!
