Credit Card pre-authorization question

A few days ago I called and made a payment for our trip, and the CRO castmember asked me if this is the card I'm going to use for our trip. I said yes, as it worked out really well for us last year to have it linked to our KTTW card (I had been skeptical our other trips, scared that I'd spend way to much). I went online later to check my account to see if a payment I had made on something else had gone through and I saw that in addition to my payment, they had done a pre-authorization for $1. I'm not concerned about it, but just curious if they are doing this now for it to be linked, even though my trip isn't until Sept. It doesn't matter to me one way or another, but I guess I'm just nosy since they didn't do that last year until I actually checked into the hotel.
On another matter, did they change their rules on ID? When I checked in last year, I showed my military ID as I'm so used to using it having time and the cast member checking me in said that wasn't allowed as valid ID, I had to show my drivers license. It wasn't a big deal to me as I had my DL with me, but was curiouse as to why my military ID wouldn't work, as it's certainly official.....

I was asked the same thing when I called CRO last week to give them my $200 deposit. After giving my CC info, she asked if I wanted to use that card for charging privileges. Our trip isn't until December.... does anyone know why they are doing this?

If they save it and link it to your ressie now, it could save time at checkin??

Technically someone could be using a credit/debit card now that may not be working or acct closed by then, so it seemed strange.

True, but I am sure that they would at least reconfirm the card when you check in.

Also, if you think that would be the case, you should tell them not to use it for the trip....

I'm not saying that would be the case with my card, it's the one I'll be using for my trip and I don't mind at all the authorizing. I was just curious why they were doing it now, since they'd still have to do it at check in. Anything to make the trip even more smooth than normal is great. Just wondering if it was that or something else as this was a new question for me, and I've called several different times to make a payment, that's all :).

I'm guessing that the CM who checked you in last time didn' know what a military ID was or just didn't know what she was doing. A military ID is most certainly valid ID.
