With the upcoming refurb scheduled to start April 17th on WDW Space Mountain and no one fully knowing the details on it I figured, why not think of what YOU would do. Write down all the details on what your version would be like and anything else you would want. Feel free to add pictures or even videos (ex. rct3) and make it as long as you like.
Enjoy!

My refurb would be fairly major and would take at least 11 months to complete.

Entrance- The entrance would receive a bit of new lighting as well as new signage. The shutter doors would remain exactly the same other than some new paint. The entrance lobby would be given a whole new lighting package to keep up with Tomorrowland's neon look. Expect the decal on the wall to be replaced with a more detailed star map which could fit into the storyline. The balls on the floor would be replaced with plate glass which allows guest to look through. The music would remain.

Queue- Other than some new lighting and updated windows the star tunnel corridor would remain exactly the same. The zig zag corridor would be updated much more. All music speakers would be converted and lighting would be improved. Each space window would feature new effects and would interact with passing guests, (ex. floating astronauts waving to you while working on ship repairs). All of the queue music would stay the same. New carpeting would be laid down in the safety spiel video area and the video would be updated. Last, but not least is the load area. The whole area would be covered atop which would improve light leakage into the mountain. The whole roof would be structured and lit to look more spacey.

Ride- For the most part, the carts would stay glowing in the dark and would get new paint, lap bars, and decals. The entrance tunnel would receive new announcement spiels and an updated blastoff reading. The strovbe tunnel would receive a fresh new sound system while the area before the lift hill would be darkened. The lift hill would receive a silent lift mechanism. The floating spaceship would be replaced with a more futuristic one while the astronauts would move. The control people would move too. A Co2 effect would be added at the top of the lift hill to give a blastoff feel. Now onto the ride itself. The track layout would remain the same while it would be replaced. New projection effects would enhace guests experience as well as the updated re-entry tunnel. No music, sorry folks.

Post Show- The unload area will receive a big upgrade. It will be partially demolished and rebuilt to be more futuristic looking. The exit ramp will receive several upgrades too. A new score, a new post show which actually will include various references to other Tomorrowland things and make it fit in more with the New Tomorrowland theme, and new lighting. The t.v. monitors will be replaced with a cool look out into "space" courtesy of a series of large windows. The entire gift shop will get a new paint and lighting package as well.

Well, I don't know exactly what I want to do, but I want to complete scrap the double track and create a brand-new single track from scratch, making this ride MUCH LONGER than ever before. Maybe even throw in at least one loop in there; I think that structure is big enough. Also, I would replace the single-file with bigger rockets, seating two across per row. Maybe we could get Intamin to design the new rockets or something. And just as DL's new Space Mountain's space station queue is Space Station 77 (referring to when it first opened), I want WDW to have a space station queue, as well. Maybe have it be called Space Station 75 (again referencing when the ride first opened).

Not bad. :) That's a pretty cool idea.
