I'm no good at this trip report stuff, so bear with me...
January 6th, 2005:
We left our house en route to the airport around 5:00 a.m.. It had snowed all night long, and as a result, the 45 minute drive to the airport took us about an hour and a half. We got to Detroit Metro without incident and checked in and waited to board. At 9:30 a.m., we boarded the plane and were delayed an hour while we waited on the plane in a line to de-ice. At 11:00 a.m., we finally took off headed south to Orlando.
When we landed, we quickly got the rental car, stopped at Burger King for some much needed lunch, and hit up Wal Mart for some snacks. After that, we were off to Pop Century. We checked in and headed to our rooms to take a nap. My parents were in the 70's building, but it was too loud, so they transfered to a room in the 50's buliding. My BF and my room was also in the 50's building, fourth floor, lake view.
Being that it was my BF's first trip to WDW, we were excited to do something fun with him. On our first evening, we went to Downtown Disney for dinner, but nothing fancy. We went to McDonalds (and Earl of Sandwich for me) and ate and planned the next day out. After that, we went to World of Disney, and to my surprise and delight, BF immediately began shopping!
After that and a few pictures around DTD, we went back to Pop and fell asleep.
January 7th, 2005:
We hopped on the bus around 9:00 a.m and headed to Magic Kingdom. Our first ride of the day was Space Mountain with a 15 minute Stand-By wait. After that we went on the Indy Speedway, which was fun for everyone. After that, we headed to the Main Street Bakery for some breakfast. Next we headed to the Haunted Mansion, which was walk-on. Next was Philharmagic, which BF LOVED. Next was pictures with Mickey followed by the TTA (which BF liked) and Carousel of Progress (which everyone but BF fell asleep in). After that was lunch at Cosmic Ray's. Before a Monorail ride to the TTC to pick up a bus to MGM, we stopped and looked at pins for my dad. BF noticed a Mickey Mouse Police Officer pin that caught his eye (since he's going to be a cop), and he said, melting my heart, "I guess I'd better start my pin collection, huh?" He bought my mom, dad and I a pin, but had yet to buy himself one.
At MGM, we got FP's for Rockin' Roller Coaster, and went on the Tower of Terror, which had a 15 minute Stand-By wait. BF was impressed with ToT. Next was RnRC, which BF liked. After that, we headed back to Pop for a swim in the pool and a nap before heading to Wishes.
We rushed to MK, and JUST MADE IT into the park before Wishes started. We got to our "usual" viewing spot and watched, then faught the crowds back to the bus with growling stomachs. Back at Pop, BF ran up to grab our mugs, and I bought him his Mickey pin. His eyes lit up when he got it, and I could tell that he was getting into the whole Disney thing.
January 8th, 2005:
We were on the bus at 9:00 a.m. and on our way to Epcot. Our first stop was the store just outside of the turnstiles where BF looked for a pin lanyard. (He looked at pins and lanyards at every store at Epcot that day) Our first ride was M:S, which had a 15 minute Stand-By wait. BF really liked it, and commented all day and for the rest of the trip about it. Next was Test Track, which we all loved as usual, but did nothing for BF. Then we went to give BF his first taste of Beverly. We told him it tasted like beer to get him to drink it first, and his facial expressions weren't as bad as we thought they would be. We were pretty disappointed. We headed back to Pop for a swim and nap before heading back to do the World Showcase.
Back at Pop, BF found his perfect lanyard and the perfect M:S pin, which he wore back to Epcot. In the WS, we ate dinner; vegetarian platters from Morocco for mom and me, and fish and chips for dad and BF. BF said that the fish and chips and Bass Ale made his day. We walked through WS and watched Illuminations, which BF absolutely loved and talked about for the rest of the trip.
January 9th, 2005:
This day, we went to Daytona and went shopping in Orlando. (And we escaped the Marathon)
January 10th, 2005:
Our last day. We spent most of the day at the pool. BF bough more pins and proudly wore them to AKL when we visited and ate dinner. (You had to know that I had to visit AKL!!!) BF liked the Zebra Domes, and was impressed with the resort. We headed back to Pop early that night to get to bed to leave for an early flight the next morning.
Overall Comments: BF is officially a keeper. He said he would go back "anytime" and that he "had the best time". We took it slow and didn't do too much at the parks in an attempt not to overwhelm him, and I think it did the trick! There are a million things he wants to do when he goes back!!! Yes, he said he is going to go back!!!
