Crane on-site next week at Cinderella Castle for Dream Light installation

I have not been down to WDW since 1998 and that was two week's before Christmas. But was wondering how much of the other parks are decorated now outside of MK?

I don't understand why they can't install permanent LED lights built into the castle somehow so they don't have to bring out the crane twice a year (to put up and take down)

Not to mention they can easily simulate the lights with projections. Really rather see the funds directed to recreating a new LOW for Epcot. :geek:

I am sorry for those that have to take shots of the castle with the crane in the shots, but I think that it is supposed to be gone by 7PM anyway. What irritates me about this whole thing is (yes, I know that many here love these) the lights that are hanging in the castle in every picture I take this time of the year. I know they are not lit up, and I know that you are not supposed to see them because they "blend in", but I can still see them. They don't blend in, and they make it look like the castle is caught in a fishing net.

Sorry, rant over. I know people love the castle dream lights, but this effect could be done just as easily with the laser lights couldn't it?

Does anyone know if the crane stays "on schedule"? Meaning, if it is supposed to be finished by Sept 30th, what are the odds it actually will be finished then? Does it never/sometimes/always run longer and into October?

We need time for things to happen.
I picked the wrong time of the year to invest in photo pass+ ;)

All castle pics are going to be taking on our last two days.

As others have said there has to be another way of doing this, something more permanent.

OK... So I know I can't have it all. I mean I get free dining an low crowds for my vacation next week, so I'm not complaining. But this is my first trip and I do have photopass+. So should I just wait until after 7 to get my pics with the castle in it, or are there other strategies?

I think they are great but wonder if the money could be better invested elsewhere. Possibly making it worth the compromise. Just a thought.
Why? They already have the nettings with 200,000 lights. You are a proponent for throwing them in the dumpster beside SpectroMagic? I don't think it has to be Dream Lights OR LoW at Epcot. Let's not remove another holiday offering...we are already looking at the final year of the garlands across Main Street, USA. Will miss them.

They are stopping the garlands across Main Street???!!:mad::arghh: Where did this come from? Heck, that's a HUGE part of the old town, holiday feel. Is this confirmed??? I am finally just accepting the fact that the Country Bear Holiday lay over is really never coming back. Now this???

The new parade floats coming next year are too tall to keep the garlands. I'm sure there will be some sort of replacement. Maybe they will adorn the street lamps with Glow with the Show ears.

It does not have to be "either/or" but that seems to be the trend. And pushing Christmas out of the parks probably will hurt sales more than they anticipate. However, others in competition for those same guests will surely see an opportunity. Time to bring back an improved LoW and a place for those garland. The FLE perhaps?

Hey what happened to smiley Santa?

Eh, don't worry about it too much. Something at WDW is always down or behind scrims or next to a building site.
I guess that if the crane goes down after 7, quickly time to have your picture taken then.

Here's what MS should look like, with a crane and the Halloween decoration. It's not a deal breaker:

Well the crane DOES kind of spoil the forced perspective of the castle....but I like the end result so I will not complain.
