Crane at Cinderella Castle

Sorry no, 20 year veteran. They only started adding those lights in 2007 so my admiration for the castle without them had plenty of time to grow. Disney wins in so many areas it's ridiculous, but that doesn't mean I don't prefer to see their prize jewel of an attraction without a towering modern-day piece of construction equipment. I live in an area that is under construction 75% of the year, I don't want it on vacation. I know it's a necessary evil, but yeah, go ahead, include me in that category of people who DO NOT want to see it on their trip. I don't pay almost a quarter of a years salary to have the illusion spoiled by a huge crane and worker(s) in a hanging basket in front of and behind my favorite spot on the whole property. My wish is that this could be taken care of during the park's closed time. No disrespect intended at all.

I'd think that they'd at least try to lower the boom during park hours. It may not be possible with the extension on the end, though.

Yes. It generally takes about three weeks to put the lights out. They start in August so that they can usually have the work done and the crane gone in time for the Halloween party. .

And WDW is so drunk on the extra cash from the !@#$^ Halloween and Christmas parties there is only 6 days (November 1st-November 6th) between the last MNSSHP and the first MVMCP, so you can't do it between them.

Perhaps next year the lights will go up in April so it doesn't interfere with the new Mickey's Patriotic Park Palooza on 43 select nights in June and July.

Still not sure why they just don't permanently install LEDs into the castle and be done with it. Taking 1/4 of a year to put them up is a bit much.
I feel like that would make more problems rather then solve problems. Florida weather is harsh on anything sitting outside, my family does a Christmas light display of about (I think we're up to 15,000 lights this year) and the lights themselves (LED) get wear and tear from sitting out in the wind and such. Plus its easier to replace the bulbs when they're on the ground then having to pull out the crane for light replacements.

Sure it's visible at times, but I've found they try to keep it out of the way as much as possible. PhotoPass also does a good job avoiding it when possible. All our complaining just proves why an HM NBC overlay can't happen in WDW! ;)

Wait....are the tickets tiered pricing for that and is there an add on dessert party?;)

Well I am talking about a permanent installation that has been done for many applications before. LEDs also last a very long time.So even if several hundred go out that's on the castle, you really wouldn't notice.

I have noticed during my trips when the crane is not in use on a certain day they do lower it fully behind the construction walls on the backside of the castle.

I much prefer the way Disneyland's castle is done for Christmas instead of the "every square inch is covered with a light"-take.

If they did it DL style they could probably knock it out in a day.
Just hang around the back of the castle then, not one light to be seen. Never understood why though, doesn't look right without them. Half done is the way I explain it, without the bad words.;)

I'm with you there. It always seemed strange to me why the back-half of the castle was dark. Same goes for the Magical Memories (or whatever they call it) projections onto the castle. They ought to fully wrap the castle.

I may be OCD on this.
