Anyone know what they are doing behind the tower of terror? They only raise the crain at night and light up the back of the tower. Im at Boardwalk but cant see much of whats going on.

Yeah i was told that today by a castmember, this place needs lots of work. The boardwalk was missing quite a few lamppost tops & roof shingles. so was the beach and yacht club. They are doing work on the boardwalk now and replacing some of the rotted wood. They were also cutting squares out of the ceiling in the halls, aparently looking for something, maybe leaks. Had to come home today :(

They are slowly fixing the damage that the Hurricanes brought to the ride's exterior... Mainly Roofing shingles and other minor things...

Shouldn't they just leave it be? I mean all that damage might just add to the whole "abandoned hotel" theme they've got going for it.

One would think that, but given the technical aspect of the design, "replacing the old" is required to stop leaks and such...

They have had two cranes out there for almost the last month now. Somehow I don't think the damage is really from the hurricanes. They may have had some damage, but I think they are also doing some sort of maintenance work on the motor system itself at the same time.

is this the crane your talking about? this was taken in october sorry that its so big, it wont let me resize it...

That crane has been there for a while now. It was there when I went to Disney in late August with my family and we were told the same thing that it was being used to repair the damage from the hurricanes. They may be doing other work but I do also think that they are still doing work to repair the damage from the hurricanes. Remeber there were alot of people affected by the hurricanes and it has take a while for them to get things done.

Crain, crain, crain... ouch that hurts my brain.

The aforementioned reasons are correct. The hurricanes really did a number on a lot of roofs in our area... WDW was not exempt. It's taking a while to complete everything... but it won't be much longer.

Yeah. I just got back from the BoardWalk (room 2335) and I also saw the crane. They were also rebuilding part of the Boardwalk itself. Noticed it on our last day.

It may seem odd that here we are 2 months from Jeanne hitting WDW, but when people are saying that there was damage - they aren't kidding. I was one of the lucky few who was caught in the middle of it (trapped in room 1119 of the Pop Century resort). Not only was the 70's pillar knocked over, but there was pleanty of damage throughout the park. I'm sure it has been mentioned on the boards so I won't rehash. The day after Jeanne, there was the bismol crain hiding (not so well) behide Spaceship Earth as well as various other clean up. So....when it is being stated that there is still clean-up and repair going on, I'm not too surprised.

No, just the tiles on the roof....quite a bunch missing..... only thing they would need a crane for with the motor system would be to replace a winch. To do that, they'd need to take a side of the building off. (Which they have done before after burning out a motor.)
