CP's Entertainment Options

Hey everyone, first of all Merry Christmas to all. My question is can CP's get singing roles or are they limited to being characters only? My reason for asking is I am quite an accomplished singer and I was planning on doing the CP after I graduate from college in order to qualify for a management internship. I figured since I was going to be doing something other than management type stuff for the CP it would be great if I could sing. Thanks for all replies.

Nope. Any "live" singing is done by equity performers.

So I would have to apply to be a full-time cast member in order to sing?

You would have to be FT, and you have to audition to get into equity.

Stage

STAGE might be an option if you are interested in acting as well. They are a theater group open to cast members and I believe their families as well. You do not get the chance to perform in a park but it does give you a chance to honestly say you performed with a disney supported group.

but as of right now there isn't that many singing roles around. i think B and B and the liberty singers are about it. if you're lucky you'll get mermiad. but i don't think they will give an intern that position. it's hard to get.

I have a friend who was in the same boat. I told him to do the CP and he did this fall. He went to auditions and got accepted for Festival of the Lion King, but he wanted Voices of Liberty. As his program is ending, he can start in Feb. However, he now decided to not go through with singing at Disney at all and is going to Prague to sing opera.

Long story short... do the CP in whatever role you want. This will get you a chance to audition... but keep in mind that you can't start your contract until you finish the CP.

Well thanks for all the responses. I'm actually going to be a college graduate when I head down there and I am doing the CP to better my chances at eventually getting into management. I thought that singing for a couple months would be nice, but it definitely is not a big deal that CP's can't do it.
