This was a first incident and first offense for both of us. The full timers and the part timers we worked with all told us that it was most likely going to be a reprimand because it was such a minor situation.

I had already been given part time in MK and was supposed to start the week after my program ended. With this whole situation, the managers termed both of us and gave me no re-hire status. The union rep said this was ridiculous, and has me fighting it through HR because it's such a harsh punishment for a first time offense of such little severity.

Does this seem like it's a permanent no re-hire, or just one that has a time limit on it? I'm already going through HR to find out if it's a permanent one, and if it is I'm definitely fighting it.

First off, as a CP Alumni myself, I'm sorry you have to go through this. In hind sight you probably shouldn't have done it but it certainly doesn't seem like something that would be punishable with being termed and a no-rehire status. In my opinion a reprimand would have been sufficient.

I think that really only HR can answer that for you if it's really a true no-rehire or one that has a time limit. Since you're fighting it through HR you may come out with having your re-hire status reinstated right? So I think it could go either way.

Best of Luck in fighting your case. I know that going through Disney with stuff like that is a pain. My roommate from the program is working almost a year to get her status reinstated and was let go of from the program with a hirable status. Please keep me (and anyone else interested) updated in what happens.

If you are fighting it out with HR then it will probably become a 6 month no-rehire.

Are CPs part of the Union? If not sadly you may not have much hope with HR. If CPs aren't part of the union the union can't protect you sadly.

To you it is a small offense to someone else any graffiti is major because in their mind it shows you don't care about the property. Not trying to justify their actions but I know some managers are stricter about things that may seem minor to other people. I bet their is a rule somewhere that says defacing Disney property can end in termination and your manager took that and ran with it.

I'm pretty sure cp aren't union. They can help you which is nice on his or her part but they have no real power with you.

You had 6 points prior to this and wasn't termed? That in itself is impressive, I did a double program back to back, August to May, only had one point and they wouldn't give me seasonal or part time. I had to go through the entire hire process again.

Well, the way the point system works now if that you have to have a certain number within a 30 day period to get a reprimand, and mine were spaced out to literally one a month, so the attendance points never affected me. I know that in my area (I worked attractions.) we're only allowed to have 4 points on our record and no more than 1 reprimand if we want to go seasonal.

CPs aren't union. I was talking to the union rep of the area I worked in after this happened, and he's the one who told me that the union couldn't do anything for me, but I could definitely fight it through HR.

Oh no, I definitely agree that I shouldn't have done it. She and I both do, and admitted we were in the wrong and even asked if there was something we could do to fix it and we both realized that wasn't going to happen. It's just extremely harsh to put a no re-hire on us for that, but not on people around us who have done much, much worse.

All in all, I'll post up here what happens concerning HR and the no re-hire status.
Thanks guys.

Within the last few weeks of my program, there was a little bit of writing on a wall in one of the areas where I worked. It had been there longer than I had. It was very hard to see, and said just the basic "so-and-so was here" stuff that guests write when they go places. Except a lot of this was cast written.

Looks like if guests were writing on it too, it was onstage. You never know the reason though. Was this when guests were around? Did they see you write on the walls? If they saw you and reported it, then it might be a little worse than just a little message on a wall.

Ok..I am sure I am going to sound like the Evil one but....

Based on what I read, that was destruction of company property. Now I have run large companies and one of the offenses that can get you fired is destruction of company property.

In many companies this is the same as stealing or fighting.

It may be only a small little cat face, but it still does not change the fact.

As far as Guests doing it, well that is like saying "Guests steal, so I should be able to do as well."

Not to attack anyone personally on here....but as a Manager, I would have fired you too...
