CP acceptance question

Hey everyone! I had a quick question about the Disney College Program. I had previously worked for Disney in 2008 and then moved back home a few months later. I was wondering if I could still apply for the college program. If anyone could answer this that would be great! I really want to do this program! Thanks!!

They've stopped accepted applications for the Fall & Fall Advantage programs for this year. Applications for the Spring & Spring Advantage programs will be posted in late August or early September.

You can still apply...you just have to meet the requirements (be taking some sort of class at the time of application).

They definitely accept former cast members. I did the Career Start program Aug 2008-May 2009 & I've been seasonal since then. I got accepted for merchandise for fall. I know several people that have either done the program multiple times or have been full time/seasonal and then did the program.

They do (I did 6 CPs). As long as you are in school when you apply, it's fine if you're a former/current cast member

Thanks so much to everyone! So I am still going to apply for the spring advantage. I am going to Valencia next week to get registered for fall classes. I had some family problems and got fired for repremands. I hope that that wont hold me back. This is my dream. Thanks again

That's a hard one. It depends on what you were termed for. I know people with restricted rehire statuses who were rehired, but I also know people who have not been rehired so far.

I was termed for reprimands during my CareerStart! Program back in '06. I went through the restricted rehire process in '07, but was told I wasn't eligible due to a technicality. I went through the process again in Summer of '08 and was rehired.

With a restricted rehire (which is likely what you have) you have to be *currently employed* with a job, and have had at least 6 months of time there under your belt. When I reapplied the first time around, I had moved down from Washington, and had quit my job of 8 months in order to do so. Because I had quit, I was automatically not rehired. When I tried again, I had over a year of excellent theme park experience over at Universal, a great attitude during my interview, and a 6 page essay to give them telling them exactly why they needed me back at Disney....they must have liked something, because I was hired on the spot =)

If you're having trouble with restricted rehire, and if you reside in Orlando (which I'm going to assume is a yes since you go to Valencia) I'm going to recommend that you go the Universal route. As much as I adore Disney, I've had an amazing time as a team member at Universal...such a good time, in fact, that when I was finally rehired at Disney for my dream job as a Jungle Cruise Skipper, I ended up quitting after three months to go back to Universal.

Not saying you have to go the Uni route, but if Disney won't take ya back, just know you have options :wave:

I actually live in Clearwater right now. I was terminated for reprimands in Feb of 2008. I was younger and more immature at that time so I called off a couple times..something I would never do now. Its my largest regret. I have held a steady job for 6 months and I could definitely write an essay if they wanted one. Disney is my ultimate dream job. I really am hoping for the best. I am in the enrollment process for Valencia. Im going to take online classes for the Fall and apply for the Spring 2011 College Program. They said I needed to be enrolled in the fall in order to get into the college program in the Spring. Thanks so much again for the advice!

The only time that I was told they will rehire a former cast member is when they were not terminated or a note was made that a special circumstance occurred. I had to leave early because of a personal reason (only 2 weeks before "graduation" from the program), but my manager made a note on my file and I was told I could be rehired. Good luck with everything!
