My wife and I run together! We train together! We love being together! Apart from her I would not have the motivation to do this so we are a team! How many other couples run, train, and enjoy being together like we do? Are we sappy?? Hell, we are just in love!! LOL....

THe only problem with us training and running together all the time is that Ben stays behind with me. He is MUCH faster and I know he would SMOKE me if he ran his pace. i feel so guilty when he stays with me.

does anyone else run with their spouse? I want him to do a 5k at his pace soon and see what he can do. But I really do LOVe running together.

My husband and I ran the Wine & Dine 1/2 relay in October. But we trained very differently. He did the beginning of the race and trained for speed. I am more of the distance runner of the family so I run to maintain a manageable pace. (He also works out of state during the week so that makes running together difficult)
But for both of us to complete the race and get the medal was such a great experience for both us.

My wife just caught the running bug after watching me finish the half this month. She is going to run the Everest Challenge in May! I'm looking forward to sharing that time with her rather than running alone.

I've been "runnung" (more like clumsy stumbling) since the 2009 Disney half (I'm a specialist and only do Disney halfs - I want to get 7 Donald medals and hang them around my neck like Mark Spitz . . . for the young ones, Mark Spitz was a swimmer who looked sort of like Freddy Mercury . . . but then if you're young, you probably don't know him either . . . )

Anyway, I signed my wife up for 2011. She laughed and said there was no way she could ever do it, but I dragged her out on weekends and she did some running on her own during the week.

My only goal this year was to drag her, kicking and screaming, across the finish line.

She did it!

I think she'll go again next year, but we're not going to run together. I think she has enough experience now to do her own thing, and I'd like to get my time down to a new PR.

My husband and I completed our first marathon together this year at Disney. We did train together although he is much faster than me. If we were doing runs of about 3 miles, he would do them at his own pace. For our longer runs we stick together. In races, he is extremely competitive and I don't mind that he does his own pace. The longest race before the marathon was a 5 miler. He did stick by me for the marathon though. I don't think we would have had as much fun if we had run apart!

I got my DW to do the Halloween 5k with me in October. It was much more a walking pace than a running pace, but better than nothing. Looking forward to doing more of the Disney 5k's with her.

I have done three half-marathons and would like my husband to do a Disney one with me. We run together on the weekends, but like others I am the faster one. The goal would be to finish.

My husband and I ran together once, 16 years ago, for about one block. LOL
He decided to join me for a run, but he took off like gang-busters (showing off I think as it was shortly after we'd met), and I managed to keep up with him for one block at which point I slowed my pace and he ran ahead. I caught up to him huffing and puffing about 2 blocks later when he advised me that running was not for him so he went home and I finished my 3 miler at my slow and steady pace. LOL. That was the end of our running as a couple.

However, I have since then gone on a few short runs with my daughter to try to teach her some mental tricks to be able to finish "The Mile" at school, and with my son who can outrun me anyday of the week but is still willing to keep my pace to have some Mom-Son time (how long will that last? he's 11 now - sniff sniff). The only thing better than running with your spouse is running with your kids! And I'm ever so grateful that my husband enables me to get in those long runs by watching the kids when necessary. I couldn't ask for a more supportive spouse.

My DH is not really the runner. I'm the runner. I've done several 5Ks, 10Ks and one Half Marathon. As a gift, we're doing the Princess Half together. We're definitely sappy lovey-dovey types. Otherwise there's no way he'd be running it! And although he hates running, he loves me so he goes along sometimes!

My husband hates running...I asked him to do the Princess Half with me and got a firm "hell no." Oh well, at least I'll have a cheerleader out there!

Ditto here! I've tried and tried to get my husband interested in running but no whay! I was able to spark our daughter's interest some last year but it quickly dwindled! Oh well, like you said, at least I've got a cheering section of 2 out there!

After 6 years of coaxing, I finally got my girlfriend to run in an event. We ran the Buzz and Woody's Best Friends 5K together in January and she actually enjoyed it and hopes to run in some more 5 and 10 K's this year.

I've run a few marathons and halfs with other family members (we had 7 of us running the Disney 5K in 2008) and I have alot more fun running with them than I do running alone and trying for a new P.R..

My wife and I workout together on a regular basis, we also climb, bike, kayak, etc...together.

And we just finished the Warrior Dash together.

We're a team and I love it!

Just signed myself and my husband up for the Disneyland 1/2 marathon in September.
This will be his first 1/2 marathon and I'm going for the Coast-to-Coast Challenge medal. Training together will be difficult since he travels for work and is gone most of the week, but once race day is here, I know we'll both be grinning from ear to ear being able to accomplish our goals TOGETHER!

I'm debating on registering for the 2012 Marathon/Goofy Challenge...it will hinge largely on whether or not I can talk my girlfriend into running. After 6+ years of refusing to even come to any of my races, she ran her first 5K at Disney last month. I'm trying to talk her into the half next year. Got her registered for a 10K in November - we'll see how it goes. I was hoping to run Bahamas or Bermuda instead of Disney in 2012, but might be returning.
