Country Bear Refurbishment rumor

I'm pretty well known for not being a CBJ fan around these parts. However, aside from a few snips here and there, I don't care if they leave the show in place and would feel bad for the fans if they rip it out.

The locations isn't prime for other uses, is small, and I really don't want another pin shop, character meet, or princess meal.

They could put a Home on the Range attraction in there...:drevil:

Or another Turtle Talk/Monsters Inc type show.
high-tech show in Frontierland? Not sure how I feel about that...

Honestly, I have no attachment to the show and would not cry if it left, I'm just not sure what would be a good replacement for it. It would pretty much have to be a show unless they want to remodel a lot of Frontierland (take out some shops or make Pecos Bill's smaller, both of which I can't see Disney doing), but what kind of show? Honestly, I'd be happy if they kept it the same idea, got some new Audio-Animatronics figures, new characters, new songs. The show has just stagnated for me over the years...it kinda puts me to sleep :lookaroun I also wouldn't mind a show hosted by the Song of the South critters but I also realize they don't technically belong in Frontierland, anyway. Okay, I give up. Make it a gift shop.

Hmm. I could see some of this fitting in a new, updated but still timeless show.

And the show is not outdated in concept. We have just seen a lot of children's entertainment really stop doing the western so much. In fact I think children need more of this type of entertainment that they can share easily with their GRANDparents. That is one thing that meant a lot to me about WDW when I was little -- that there was thrilling stuff, but there was also stuff that all of us could do when we brought my grandmother. And the CBJ was definitely that.

Timeless.

Don't care if they keep it or not personally, but I agree that with Disney's reputation of being a place that puts on a good show, at least keep up the refurbs so nothing looks too neglected.

Why don't we have a regular refurb schedule annually like Disneyland? I understand the argument about WDW having more once-in-a-lifetime type guests so why not do a couple short down times instead of one really long one?

Snow White (just like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride -- RIP) was an example of when we didn't dumb down children's stories (especially fairy tales) or attractions. It is alright to have some scary things that children can experience WITH their parents, teaching them (1) that their parents are right there with them, and (2) that there is good and bad, and that bad is something we want to avoid. These stories are familiar, and have "morales" to them. The ride just brings you into the story. Parents can take their cue from the name of the ride, also!

What is Martins fantasyland history, where can I find it? I would love to see the old rides how they were originally.

Ditto.

Not only is the location too small for anything new to go into it, but the CBJ still pulls in the crowds, is still popular and plays to packed houses in almost every performance.

True, and I would hate to see this classic go.

But with the way it's playing now, Disney should be ashamed. It should not even be open in it's current state (then again, I guess the same could be said about several MK attractions).

I agree. And with the prices continually going up faster than inflation, there is no reason for Disney not to keep up the maintenance.

As for Martin's videos, I am not sure where to find them. Perhaps Martin can provide the link. In the meantime, if you are willing to pay, the Extinct Attractions Club has this documentary for sale (along with several others): http://01508f4.netsolstores.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=17. Some of their stuff is a little pricey, but they include cool interviews and extras sometimes. I have a few of their DVDs and have been satisfied.

I brought my 2 year old to this attraction on Wednesday. He even thought it needed a rehab. You can't hear a word that any of the bears say. & the music is way too out of date for the under 5 set that this attraction plays for.
