Hey people ....im 31 years old and im sitting counting change i've saved over the past several months. Im checking to see if i've got enough to buy two park hoppers. by saving change to buy tickets its not like a real big bite on the credit card. But as i said im 31 and it almost crazy the way im acting about getting tickets. I about Disneystupid enough i'll go hungry before going without Disney tickets. Is this nuts or what?????????Does anyone else do crazy stuff like this?

Crazy? Not really. We save our loose change for souvenir money for our Disney trips. You save it up over a year's time and it adds up. You'll have to save a lot for tickets, but I guess it can be done.

BTW, where in North AL?

Well.... I have also done this, when I met my wife-to-be, one of the things I really wanted to do was take both her and her daughter to WDW. We were not able to go until this year, and I had been saving change for over 4 years, specifically for the trip. I had a large plastic coke bank that was filled+

We were able to go three times (flying twice with really good deals) and drove once, and purchased season passes.

The power of change.
:D

(I am also 35 yrs, although the wife believes my true age lies somewhere between 5 and 10.)

We saved £476 in change which we bought our hopper tickets and some left toward our flex tickets it seems like its all for free when you get there, as you don't feel you've paid out a large lump sum of your spending money

We've only got 20 days to go till we're in the good o'l USA and with mickey!!!!! :sohappy:

I'm 34 on sept 4th ( it must be a 30's thing!!) :p

I have a great way to make extra money - EBAY! I have been selling lots of stuff I had stored in my attic that I don't use or have any need for. Remember - someone's junk is someone elses treasur. The money I make from this goes into my savings account for my holiday to WDW next year (hopefully).

I try to work as much overtime as I can and put that extra money
into a special Disney account I have set up at our credit union.
I get so excited about planning our next trips even if we have just got home!! Our next trip is June 2005!! I cant wait!!
I am 39 (40 in January) and my parents say I am the same age as my 5 year old son--Oh well, at least he has lots of company when we travel to Disney!!:lol:

Well to finance our trips my DH has money put in the credit union from his paycheck.. Usually takes about 1 1/2 years to totally finance it. Which seems about the right amount of time between visits for us. We save our loose change and give it to the kids to spend. This year they split $80.

Yep! But EVERYTIME guess who has to roll it?????? We always have more pennies than the rest all together and we never have any quarters.... everyone steals them.

I feel a little better now that I know that there are others like me. I'm a 33 married man with an 8-year old daughter, and I'm constantly scheming up ways to get back. Perhaps it's a bit obcessive, but there's something about Disneyworld that keeps calling me back. By the way I'm presntly convincing my wife on how nice it would be to visit during the first week of dec. with all the decorations and holiday atmosphere. I think I'm starting to break her down he he hee.:xmas:

We have a jar made of pottery that was a wedding gift. It has a slot to insert change. You take and put a little note that comes with it in it and write on it what you are saving for. It is supposed to hold up to $300. We put that we were saving for airfare for a trip to Puerto Rico for my childhood friends wedding. Problem is that doesnt look like its gonna happen anytime soon so we might be robbing from it in about 18 months. You have to break it open to get the money out. We just added a new Disney fan to our family and I want to take him when hes 18 months old. April 2005 is the goal. I save all my pennies( I am 33 and have been doing this since I can remember) and most of my silver change seperate. I have one of those $19.95 change counters that rolls it for you and it works fairly well as long as you dont overload it. We try and get the kids to start saving 1 year before we go. With relatives knowing that we are going they start to give the girls money instead of lots of gifts at holidays and birthdays. When we went in April of 02 each had about $175.

I have saved change for all my WDW vacations too. Once I have set a date for the trip I bring out the change bucket and my husband and I start dumping it in there. In the past my Mom has always secretly saved her change too and a week or so before we leave she will come visit and bring me a new Disney backpack filled with coins. I love my Mom!!!! It's an easy way for her to contribute to our trip without reallly feeling it in her wallet too! Our coin money is used to buy Disney Dollars to be used just for souveniers.

Saving change is not stupid. . .my mom and I are going to go with my son in 5 days (leaving on the 6th) for a fun filled week of disney magic and we saved all of our quarters and dimes for some time now and I do believe that we have enough money for all of our food needs. . .not to shabby eh? That also includes a few nice meals too!!! Plus a Charachter Breakfast too!!! So everyone continue to save loose change cause it does make a difference!! Disney Dreams. . . .whoo hoooo 5 days to go!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

No...maybe a culture barrier. Its when you count out and "roll" the coins in a special wrapper to cash in at the bank.

.50 for pennies (1 cent)
$ 2.00 for nickles (5 cents)
$ 5.00 for dimes (10 cents)
$ 10.00 for quarters. (25 cents)

Most banks here won't accept loose change, it has to be "rolled".

AH, I know what you mean, I have rolls of coins in shops and stuff when I've been in America. Over here we have money bags, count the change into the bag 100 pennies or 50 2ps etc and then take it to the bank for changing, the cashier will then weigh it to make sure its correct, rolling the money sounds a lot more time consuming.

It is... and dirty. :lol:
The roll trays are measured so a full roll should fit snuggly. If it doesn't its short and has to be re done.

The thing about the quarter rolls also is you might want to bring a couple. If you have kids they are gonna wanna do the penny presses. Get a shiny roll of pennies from the bank and bring some quarter rolls. When they are all gone the kids books for collecting should be about full.

Quarter rolls: good for doing laundry. (esp if you have kids. :lol: )
