Counter Service transformed to Table Service

How do the restaurants change from counter service to table service? Do they only have operating hours til afternoon, like 4 PM, and then make everyone leave so they can reopen at 5 PM? If so it must be tough to kick people out when the crowds are jamming in the summer and holidays.

To which restaurants are you referring? Off the top of my head, I can't recall any restaurants which are counter service part of the day and table service part of the day.:shrug:

If I'm not mistaken, the last I heard about the Be Our Guest restaurant in the FLE is suppose to be CS by dayand TS night.

Didn't Restaurantosaurus used to do this? Or maybe it was reversed?
I remember eating a buffet breakfast there in 2007. We went there right at opening in the morning so I don't know how it worked, did they just stop bringing buffet food out at a certain time?

The new mexican place does this in Epcot. What I understand is there are outdoor seating and counters for lunch, then indoor/outdoor seating for dinner. So eventually they'll kick you out, but why would you stay?

Doesn't the indoor section of La Hacienda de San Angel operate like this? While the serving lines are outside, I believe some of the indoor area is open for seating. I believe I heard that the cross-over happens around 4pm.

I presume that at some point they station CMs at the doors to keep new people from entering, they let people already inside finish and leave on their own, and if there are lingerers they probably politely inform them that they shoudl finish up soon and move along.

But you're correct that Be Our Guest will be the first restaurant to completely switch from Counter Service to Table Service.

I find this transition idea to be very interesting, especially in relation the the new Be our Guest. I would suspect that the demand for this restaurant once it opens would be sufficient enough that they could have it as table service at lunch and dinner and make a killing with the difference in money they would make. Something tells me this is going to be one of those places that you have to get up at the crack of dawn on your date to start making reservations in order to get a spot, at least for a while, if not a very long while.

Thanks everyone for the info. :wave: Of the many times we have visited we generally eat at the same places because we have some fussy people in our family, so I didn't realize that the new Hacienda was the only current one doing that conversion - we haven't eaten there yet. I know most restaurants have different menus and pricing for each different meal time that they serve, so I just assumed there were many that did the change from counter to table. The concept art for the new Beauty and the Beast looks really good. I wonder if there is any preview of the menu yet?

Though I have no inside info to back this up, it's also possible that the "show" during the Counter Service hours at Be Our Guest won't be extensive (or existent at all) as it will be during the Table Service hours.
