Could you spend a week and not go to the parks? What would you do?

We are considering camping Sept 2012 for aprox a week. We are thinking of not going to any of the parks. We would probably do Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (loved it last year) as the only trip to a park.

Just looking for ideas of how you would fill you week if you weren't going in the parks!

Well I get to go to Orlando all next week. I am attending an IT training class and get to have my flights, rental car, hotel, and food paid for (YEA!). This will be my first trip to Orlando that is not my Disney vacation. Class is Monday thru Friday 8:30 to 4:30. Then I am going to eat somewhere and then do some Disney stuff. I figure I will do DTD each evening and enjoy the atmosphere. I may even pay to park at the transportation center and watch the fireworks at MK from the ferry. Not sure what else I will do, but hey a freeish trip is a freeish trip.
Anyone have any other suggestions of what I can do at the world on the cheap?

Being a Floridian, no, I could not. I don't play golf, and any of the "Florida vacation" things would be better served in places such as Marco Island.

Definitely couldn't do it... definitely not. The reason I love WDW so much is it keeps me busy... hence why I hate the whole Sandals type vacation. I can only spend so much time playing golf and sitting by the pool.

You can definitely do it.
Be real about it. You are on vacation. Sleep in a bit. Go have breakfast at one of the resorts. You can always do freshly ground coffee at the Poly with a danish, too. Visit a resort or two and just take it all in. Take in the theming. You can always go to the pool and just relax. Sit under an umbrella and read a book. Have lunch by your resort pool. Take a nap in the afternoon or watch an hour of TV just to get out of the sun. Make an appointment at the Grand Floridian Spa and then go to high tea. Relax at the Poly while waiting for the fireworks to start.

You can always hit DTD as everyone has mentioned. If you are adventurous, try the mini racing boats or the paddle boat. You can always rent a bike at numerous locations throughout the resort. At night, there is a free bonfire and if you like smores, you can purchase a kit to make them.

I would treat this vacation like any other beach vacation. You are there to relax. Spend time playing miniature golf. Other suggestions were good too: fishing, boating, horseback riding, etc. If you're really daring, go for the race experience at the race track.

Don't forget resorts do offer tours of the individual resorts. Wildnerness Lodge has a good one. You can have a quick lunch at the quick service place while you're there.

no offense against FL and all, but without Disney its a rather boring place. I am an avid golfer so I could keep myself busy on the many courses in the area (Bay Hill... just to name one) but its Disney or bust in Orlando.

Well I did it......

One week in Orlando for training (8:30-4:30 m-f). I did not go to the parks, but I did drive all over the property, and did Downtown Disney Monday - Thursday each night.

I don't agree, there's USF/IOA, Seaworld, Aquatica, Wet n Wild, Busch Gardens, Kennedy Space Centre, Florida Keys and many many other attractions in Florida! They may not be as enjoyable as WDW but they exist. I would love to live somewhere as boring as Florida!:hammer:

Couldn't do it. I try and make it to a Disney park somewhere in the world every year even if it's only for a day. So to travel 4500 miles to the mother of all disney parks and not go in would be torture.

Good luck though and have agreat time whatever you end up doing
