Blue Man Group is excellent! My fiancee and I saw Blue Man Group in New York at Astor Place Theatre in the East Village section of NYC. They usually play small theatres, though I hear the Luxor Theatre in Las Vegas (that's where Blue Man Group plays) has what.. 1800 seats? I can tell you this, Blue Man Group has shows in New York, Vegas, Chicago, and Boston. If you're headed anywhere to those cities soon, make sure you get tickets! Another thing I can tell you - the finale is one part of the show you'll never forget. ;)

You forgot they play in Berlin and Toronto too. They are also moving out of the Luxor this Oct. The finale is amazing!!!!

OK one of the problems with cirque is that many of the other shows have some topless performances, not that I wouldn't want to see some topless performances but its sort of impractical in family freindly Disney.
Thats not really a problem at all. They would simply create another show without that, just as they did with La Nouba.

This is yet another completely false statement.

There are NO Cirque shows with topless performances. Zumanity in Vegas was the first Cirque show ANYWHERE that requires the guest to be over 18 years of age, and there is STILL no nudity in the show.

Would Zumanity be appropriate for Disney? Of course not, but every single one of Cirque's other current shows would be.

Yo Billy!

Disney doesn't support Cirque Du Soleil. Cirque Du Soleil supports itself. It's a completely different entitity. And, Cirque Du Soleil has been around since the early 1980s when they used to be a group of young street performers. Read this webpage and if you dare, explore a little further:

http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/company/socialaction/default.htm

Cirque Du Soleil has been around for 20+ yrs. I see them being around for another 20. :)

Tokyo Disney is getting a cirque show now which is cool.

I won't participate in the poll because I'm not fond of the wording -- its not about 'need' always, its also what the market can sustain.

Personally, I would love to see Disney Broadway shows performing in Park and not charge that much more extra on the ticket. It would get loads of people in the parks. But you'd have to build a massive theatre (5-10K seats? 2 shows daily? peak?)

Talk about a crowd eater.

Just to re-iterate. Vegas only has 4 official Cirque Shows: KA, Mystere, O, Zumanity. There is another Beatles influenced show in development. There might be more see Umbridge.com. Le Reve and Celine's shows are by an ex Cirque head honcho.

Incidentally, Zumanity could be a great addition to Pleasure Island -- heard they might franchise that show out. It would be a nice punch up to PI's entertainment cache.

Whatever happened to David Copperfield Underground at MGM? ;)

and moving into the Venetian.

As far as Cirque shows go, I have seen 3 (O, Mystere, and La Nouba) and have loved them all. Next time we go to Vegas I plan on seeing Ka. I don't think WDW needs another Cirque show though. There is more than enough to do there and La Nouba is great to do multiple times.

If they were to build a new theatre, I would think it would be best to have Broadway productions of Disney properties (Beauty and the Beast and/or Lion King).

just my opinion ...

That makes the most sense. It'd probably be better if they didn't limit it to Disney productions. It should be open to any traveling Broadway show. This would attract locals as well as tourists.

If WDW could not support another Cirque du Soleil show in addition to La Nouba, Disney could have a second, different Cirque du Soleil show at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, at their Downtown Disney! :D

Anyone ever thought of THAT possibility?! :animwink:

While it's a nice thought, they'd be pretty hard-pressed for space. DL's DTD is pretty packed in and small, and it's surrounded by roadways and the parking area. They could build it over the DTD parking area I suppose, but they would then have to send folks to Mickey and Friends to park for DTD. I think people might get annoyed with the walk (it's not far, but it's not right next to DTD, either) and I don't know how they'd work it out sharing the space with a paid parking area (for the parks).

Agreed! I would love to see them put in a place to see those shows! But only if they were properly done - as close to the full show as possible (none of this cutting stuff out like Spamalot is gonna do in Vegas).

Personally I think it needs a new show...

La Nouba has been there since I was a kid (I'm now 22), I LOVE La Nouba but have seen it twice I think they should switch with the Vegas ones because I have no desire to see it again but on a less selfish note because it has been there for many years giving lots of people the chance to see it!

I'm not sure who it was that said there are "too many cirque shows" and this makes it less special.. I disagree... if you lived in Vegas ok maybe there are too many, but living outside the states it's still special IF or when they come to town!!!

I've seen Quidam, La nouba and Saltimbanco and all have been breathtaking... I wish I could see more and unless I go to Vegas or WDW (when and if they get a new show) then I don't really get a chance.

La Nouba is not having any problems right now. It should stay. Mystere in Las Vegas has been playing for 10 years now, and it is now only seeing a decrease in its audience, but many times the theater is full.

La Nouba is only 5 years old. So it still has some time left.

Actually the first idea with the Tokyo show was to put La Nouba there, and WDW would get a new show. But, the Oriental Land Company decided that it wanted its own show.

So, La Nouba will be staying around for a while.

I assure you it wasn't the Oriental Land Company's decision. They may have said "we want," but they never means "we get" when you're dealing with Guy Laliberte. Every decision made within Cirque is his, including what shows go where, and when a new show will be introduced. If you've ever seen "Fire Within," it's quite apparent that this is the case.

Going back to see Cirque Du Soleil "La Nouba"

I just saw Cirque Du Soleil "La Nouba" on Sunday - Sept 4th, 2005.

My younger brother is getting married on November 13th. His bachelor party is on October 15th. Since his honeymoon is going to be at Disney (he's spending two weeks at Disney...WOW!!!! I'm jealous!!!), we're going to spend the day at Universal Studios and then head over to Downtown Disney to do a little partying..... :)

Anyways, while we're at Downtown Disney, I'm going to take him to see Cirque Du Soleil. This will be his first time. As for me, it'll be my 5th. ;)

When Oriental Land Company said the would increase the amount of money the would givve towards the show, Guy followed. I agree that Guy is in control, but when it is up to money, the bigger pocket book wins.
