Could someone explain photo pass purchasing to me? I guess i feel retarded, but im 11 days out i keep hearing you can purchase early.. How does one go about this?? I rather get a better price..do i just order the CD and the custom album now? it seems like i should actually have pictures taken before i do so. I feel confused on the subject, any help would be great! Cant wait 11 days to go!! Online check in tomorrow!

Wonderful! I know i want it, but i may of found my answer, you cant pre order a book and the CD together anymore can you? Basically i would pre order the CD, then order the album separately maybe after i get home to choose what image is on the front and such?

I hope my information is helpful:

We pre-purchased the PhotoPass CD last year for $99.95 (I believe) and it was well worth the price, in my opinion. We had well over 200 photos taken of us and we got to download them all on CD.

This year we already purchased the PhotoPass+ package for our upcoming trip in September. The difference here is that you get to include on-ride photos from all the E attractions as well as photos from Character Meals.

After you purchase the package online, you are sent a voucher (FedEx 2nd Day Air) for a PhotoPass+ card that is redeemable upon check-in at your hotel. I am not sure, but it is probably different looking than regular PhotoPass cards. This way, you can be recognized as not having to purchase the on-ride photos or the Character Meal packages. You are also given an Authentication Code for when you want to redeem your photos online. You choose the photos you want to put on the CD, and when it is time to check out, just enter the Authentication Code and it will credit you the amount you were already charged when you prepaid.

Like I said, I thought it was totally worth it. I don't really like Point and Shoot cameras because I rarely get good shots (we bring one anyway). At least with this, we can take family photos that look professional in front of all major sightseeing venues at the World.

This is very helpful! We already have an account tied to the card that came in the mail with our welcome pack, and looking at it, ride photos aren't a big deal to us, and we have none of the chosen restaurants in our plans, so we will probably go with just photopass, was just curious if the card that came with the welcome pack would be the one we used.

To get a good rundown on Photopass, check out the guide on stitchkingdom.com. Sadly it is a little out of date at this point, but the basics still apply.

Basically Photopass is Disney's photo service. There are photographers throughout the parks, that will take your picture for no charge. When the pictures are taken, they get loaded onto a card. The card is also free. You can then view the pictures on the card at booths in park, or on their website at home. At that point you can also order products of the pictures you had taken. These can be single prints of the pictures, CDs that include every picture you had taken, things like magnets or mugs.

There are two products that most people talk about. One is the Photopass Photo CD. This product includes a copy of every picture you had taken so far. If you order this in the park, there are no edits done to the pictures as it would take too long. If you order it online you can make as many edits as you want, and every edit will be included on the CD. The other is the Photopass+ service. This product includes a special Photopass card that will let you get on ride photos and dining photos added to your account. Without the Photopass+ service you can still get them, but you need to pay for each picture. As part of the Photopass+ purchase, you will also get a voucher for a Photo CD so you can get copies of all the pictures.

Both have pre-purchase discounts. http://www.disneyphotopass.com/wdwphotopassplus.aspx is the link to pre-purchase the Photopass+ at 169.95, or you can pre-purchase the PhotoCD here -> http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitoffer.aspx for 119.95. The Photopass+ goes up to like 199 if you don't prebuy, and the CD goes up to 169 if you don't prebuy.

You can use any Photopass card you want. You can put them all on a single card, or you could get a new card from each and every single Photopass photographer you stopped at.

Also, You are not limited to just the card that is in your welcome pack. You can get a card from any PhotoPass photographer. Assuming you have a family, each of you can have a card and all the codes you have for the trip can be entered to see the pictures y'all have taken.

One tip, in case you lose any of the cards, snap a photo of it with your camera on your phone. That way you don't say goodbye forever to the photos you already took if you lose your card.

If you are just preordering the CD, then yes there is nothing to ship. They will put a credit on your account for the actual CD purchase. If you wanted to do Photopass+ then there do require you to do it 14 days before you trip as they do mail you stuff.

Dining should give you a physical copy of the picture, while the rides will not. At the dining they currently print out the picture and walk around to the tables trying to sell you the package. You would just show them the Photopass+ card and they would give you the prints (which include the Photopass number to claim them). At rides nothing is printed until you purchase it. So all they would do in this case is load the picture onto your card. They may change the dining at some point in the future, but as of now, that is how they do it.

Thank you Dreamfinder! Thats great! That answers my question, and of course id imagine if we preorder photopass, and decide when we get there that we HAVE to do photopassplus there would be some upgrade path, but that really answers my question. Ill order the photopass this evening :)
