no they went bust because all the fenders would fit each model of car.. Olds Buick or Pontiac or Chevy.. because the BEAN COUNTERS wanted it that way .. and all the colors were the same.. to the point where I got into the wrong car on numerous occasions because they all LOOKED ALIKE..

Mmm that is part of the reason but if you don't think the union contracts had a major impact....... Hey I have a bridge to sell you.... Only 50,000

I don't think they can. If you look at this year alone, they are pumping out 1 movie a month. Most of those are going to earn over $500M each and that doesn't include merchandising. Eventually, they will realize the pricing issue and stabilize any increases.

Could the parks go bust? Not likely but still possible. All it would take would be another Great Depression, World War, hyper-inflation of fuel/food/healthcare costs to the point where travel is simply unwarranted or unreachable for the majority.

If it were to happen, life would go on.

General Motors went bust.. any thing and any business can go bust.. just keep letting the Bean counters run the business and the Magic will end.. and you can see signs of the cracks starting to happen.. charging for extra hours both in the morning and at night.. putting more money into hotels instead of the parks.. and then too many parks that you can't control because they are in a different country..
1) It's not even near happening at Disney. Despite the parks, Disney is known for some of the best management in the Fortune 500.
2) The parks outside the US are some of the best run parks in the world. Tokyo is run better than WDW as Disney has licensed it to the Oriental Land Company.
3) The parks are more popular than ever.

I know people say "never say never," but with Disney, I don't think it could happen. Could you imagine all that land just sitting there wasting away like River Country or pieces of monorail track falling to the ground? Disney is always going to be apart of our world. Ownership may change over time, but I can almost guarantee you that there will always be a WDW to visit.

That hotel (and the other Gaylord Hotels) are owned by Marriott International.
No. In 2012, amidst a growing hostile takeover threat from Omni hotels, Gaylord Entertainment sold it's hotel brand to Marriott. However, the previous company still owns the real estate (the physical hotels and surrounding land). Marriott just manages the resorts (the contract is for 75 years); however, since Marriott bought the Gaylord Hotels brand, Gaylord Entertainment had to change their corporate name. They are now known as Ryman Hospitality.

Is that the same company that has the palms just outside WDW ?
Sort of. Gaylord Palms was constructed as Opryland Hotel Florida. Just as that hotel was opening, the company got a new management team (the previous management all "retired to spend more time with their family"). The new CEO decided to turn the company into strictly a hotel company and renamed the Orlando property to Gaylord Palms. As the three other hotels opened, they, too, received a Gaylord name - Gaylord Texan, Gaylord National, and the soon to open Gaylord Rockies.

Back in 2008, it was reported Iger was shopping around to see if there would be any buys for the parks. I could see them selling off the parks to someone else while collecting money by using the Disney name.

Even if the zombie apocalypse were to happen, Disney would still not go bankrupt. They would buy the rights to zombies, create a new zombie safari at AK, a Meet & Greet & Eat at Magic Kingdom, and if we were lucky, maybe a Zombieland in DHS. Epcot would still look like its bankrupt.........Sorry Epcot.

I honestly can't see it ever happening in our lifetime that the parks would cease to exist. As others have said, someone else buying it might happen. The thing is, what would change? Who knows really. Sports owners like to change the name of the stadiums to what the company's name is often. But would Disney World ever be renamed? Would someone be that stupid? Egotistical? Could there be a Pepsi World? Scary to think. I'd like to think the "Disney" name is so entrenched into our mindset that people just wouldn't flock to a park named after a soft drink, or whatever.

The thing is, like others have said, if they keep going the way of "corporate" and start ripping out the heart of the parks and going for the attention deficit crowd it will start to look less and less like a park Walt had anything to do with.
