Does anyone know the current prices of the balloons that are sold on Main Street USA (and elsewhere at Disney?)

I'm curious to know the price of the traditional mouse-head latex balloon, and also the more expensive mylar balloons.

Thanks.

Okay so far we have an estimate of between $8 and $12.

I'd just like to know exactly ... so I can budget. I have 4 kids and when I was a kid, getting a balloon at Disney was a tradition of ours. So i want to continue the tradition but just need to know the price.

If I am not mistaken there are a few different balloons each with different prices. The $8 to $12 price sounds about right so if you plan on dropping $50 you should be fine.

If you want to avoid the buying of all the light up merchandise at night, I would suggest going to your local dollar store and buying a bunch of them and bring some with you each night. It will be less costly and all the kids care about is having something that lights up, it doesn't necessarily have to be disney stuff. My niece and nephew didn't care when we were there this past August.

They come with plastic weights tied to the ends of the strings.

If your child does lose the baloon, you can often get a replacement one from the CM selling them. Just be polite and honest and they can give you a new one for free.

I was a CM in the parking lots in a previous life and I saw my share of kids let go of balloons and start crying. Nothing made my day any happier than getting off the back of the tram, getting a replacement baloon and bringing it over to the child. Sure is one heck of a way to make that child and that family's day!

Same thing with Mickey Bars... I once had one on a hot day and it fell right off the stick. This happened in front of a current CM and he just got me a new one without me asking for it!

Or did you ever think about tying it to the child's wrist? That's what my mom always did whenever we got balloons. :D

All the balloons we saw (a couple of which we just HAD to purchase for our little girl  ) had weights attached to the end of the string so they wouldn't "fly" away. I'm glad they do that!

The traditional mickey head ones in plain rubber - not the fancy silver ones - are only $3. Two problems though. 1) They will be flat by the end of the night 2) They don't have them often. I found a seller on Main Street when I was there this month and it was the first time in a loooong time I'd seen them. He confirmed that they don't normally do them. It takes people being bored or having extra time before they get around to making those.

Most days you can only find the silver, mylar ones. Those are really nice though and come in Mickey/Minnie (one on each side) or Princess (mainly purple in color). In MGM, they're also gold stars instead of silver. I believe they're $8 each. Those, unlike the traditional plain rubber balloons will last several days.

As for loss? The easiest thing to do is what my mom did when I was a kid: make a slip knot and put it on the kid's wrist. That way it can come off easily if need be, but not get let go of accidentally.

Give me a crying baby, a toddler who runs into me, a stroller on my heels, and a barfing 8 year old ANY day over a kid with a balloon standing next to me at a parade.

yikes, $8? If I were a parent I think I'd have to offer my child a gift in a store that would last a little longer. Out of curiosity, I'd love to know what Disney makes in one day from balloons. One of my favorite sights on Main Street is the balloon sellers with a big handful of the silver ones. I might have to try to get a picture with one this year.

I haven't posted in a really long time, but I can't resist weighing in on the balloon topic.
I, too, am a big kid who loves to have a balloon! Yes, I'm 22, and some days I just need a balloon. Some people are just balloon people. Some people get joy out of watching the thing bob around all pretty and colorful, and then watching it bob around for a few more days at home.
As for the colored rubber Mickey heads, an interesting spin on these that I've seen is a colored Mickey head inside a larger, thicker, plastic bubble. This makes them last muuuuuuch longer and are harder to pop. They only have them out occasionally or at special events, but I got a green one at MVMCP and it lasted for two weeks!!! I brought it home and it bobbed around until well after Christmas. I was very impressed! I wish they had these more often.:sohappy:

The silver Tinkerbell and Mickey/Minnie balloons can be deflated and reinflated when you get home. Go and buy a $20 tank of helium at your local party store and keep that thing floating for months....
