Coronavirus vaccine for young children further delayed as FDA says it will wait for data on three doses

I'm actually glad for this. Showing a clear benefit will make a much stronger case for approval, and it will make my job of explaining this to parents much easier.

Of course, if the data doesn't line up for the third shot, they'll need to go back to the beginning with a higher dose.

now I like a lot of what you say, but this is really one of the more odd takes on the negatives of covid. A lot of green people will be like - yes covid sucks, but less population? Not bad.....

I’m just an average Joe and think less people is probably the best news ever for our planet and our long term survival. Human population growth rates are unsustainable, we already have famines, housing shortages, are cutting down more forests to farm more food, etc… we can’t keep adding billions forever. Maybe I am a green person? 🤔

NPR was suggesting that parents should start the doses now so that when it is approved they should be ready for the third or fourth dose, but what if it turns out that even a third or fourth dose is ineffective for 3-5, then what?

For the same reason the magic kingdom doesn’t have enough capacity and dining.... because those in charge have created a system that revolves around them making money, not serving the people.

I'm actually an EV driving attempting to reduce carbon footprint person, so I get the point. Not that I want fovid to be the cause if population to be decreasing. A lot more people were choosing to have no or fewer kids so it was happening in some places anyway
I have had someone say this to me very recently. Maybe this Covid is nature's way of decreasing the population. I was stunned. I said does this include your parents. Not talking yet.
That's not at all what I was trying to say. Not even remotely close. Like no where near that.

I'm going to wear my masks when I feel it is appropriate and I'll have my hand sanitizer with me too. However, having caught the flu from someone sneezing on me what is more of a worry than standing next to a person in line is those people who don't cover their mouths and noses when coughing and sneezing or if they use their hands think that wiping it on their shirt is sufficient.

Though reality is in the world we stress the system not because of choices, we have to keep growing because there is no room. But it does feel similar. However we now have gone waaay off topic.

The data coming in on dose 3 is promising. So, it makes sense to wait 6 weeks, recommend all 3 doses, and put this to bed.

Millions of people die all around the world from various natural causes, and most of us could care less - as long as those people aren't our loved ones or ourselves.

I could make a comment, but, I'm likely to offend half the population of our respective countries. But, while we have famines in many countries we also have an obesity issue in others and I'll be shot down for this, but, to feed populations where over half are clearly eating far too much you have to wonder how much land and resources are being used to produce the extra food they needlessly consume. I'm not talking overweight people, like myself, I could do with losing some pounds, I'm talking about the people who consume four or five and more times the amount of food they should be eating.

I was about 16 the first earth day, we had high hopes and optimism back then. That was 52 years ago.........
btw we had about 3 billion and 6 was scary, all the same arguements were being made. At least it cleaned up a lot of the smog. I'm not saying this is the right way but humans have proven pretty resilient in the face of the results from their own follies. They will find a way to change or live in much reduced circumstances until the pain becomes too much.
52 years.......
We had time

US has increased their forests over the last 3 decades or so...
globally though...ehh, opposite.

Not to mention the fact that people have zero respect for food. 40% of all food in this country is just thrown away. Just look at the amount of trash people leave at the curb every week, it’s disturbing.

That’s one of my gripes about environmental regulations, globally it doesn’t do any good, might even do more damage, to restrict manufacturing here and then shift production to places that pollute at a higher rate than we did. Makes for nicer air and trees locally though.

This was one of our biggest shocks our first trip to Europe, their portion sizes are tiny compared to ours, I rarely clean my plate in America but in Europe a nightly fast food stop is common for us (to get some fries or something) because we are still hungry after dinner.

My pint sized girlfriend almost always orders off the kids menu in America but had to actually order an adult meal in Europe.

Leftovers! :D When we go out to eat, I can usually only eat half of my burger (take it home), make a dent in my pasta (take it home)...you get the picture. It's a lot of food, but we finish it eventually.

I cook a lot at home, but most recipes are for families and there's just two of us. I'm not the greatest at trying to reduce a recipe size, so I just make the entire recipe and freeze it. My freezer is full of dinners!
