I think these are two different tests. The anti body test will tell you whether or not you’ve had it. The other one is to see if you have it now. 😊

Oh, definitely. It's just that we still don't have enough tests a month later even though they said a month ago we were good. So I'm hesitant on any new claims

The suggestion was distance learning continue through the summer. If it's anything like our distance learning, that's two hours a day of work. They can manage that while travelling (though there doesn't seem to be much of that happening this summer more than likely) or farming (which captures what percentage of students really?). The schools don't need to be open and it begs the question because teachers are scheduled to work a number of days, but at the same time, they're not working full days right now. So could their contract be extended as a result to continue to lesson plan, grade papers, and do one or two weekly Zoom sessions? Possibly.
Teachers are working full days. More then full days actually. My wife has been up past 11pm 3 nights a week in order to put together lessons and grade work. It’s MORE work doing distance learning.

Maybe, maybe not. that article really says nothing. "May" "Could- all the same arguments made before they decided to do anything (or not). There isn't any hard data in that article to support one way or another.
Hope for Swedens sake you are correct if you are they would be an anomaly from the rest of the world

Totally understandable. I do recall them saying anyone who wants a test can get one. Sorry I misread your post

The first smallpox vaccine was created in 1796.

Smallpox was finally eradicated in 1979. The last US outbreak was 1950.

I was curious to see how long it took to reach everyone. I was surprised it was discovered that long ago, and that it took that long to reach everyone.

Mind, I don't imagine it would take anywhere near that long for a new vaccine to reach everyone in 2020, but it also would take some time to distribute it to enough people worldwide.

Florida numbers - in the last 24 hours, 1,128 new cases were reported, with a jump in deaths to 48.

There is only 1 county in Florida that has reported 0 cases.

Edward Jenner discovered vaccines in 1796. The limitations to the smallpox vaccine reaching the entire US population had more to do with public health campaigns rather than science. Keep in mind all this happened in the 50s too. Lots have changed.

Analysts reporting that attendance, once Disney is open won’t be back to pre closure attendance for 2 years.
So much for the record crowds back within a few weeks. Could happen I guess but not likely.
Two years for Disney to return to normal... how long for the economy?

6th grade language arts aka English.

How different are her days now versus before from a teaching aspect? Is she issuing more papers as opposed to tests/exams? Two of my boys are in elementary school and they seem to have basic assignments to complete that on average they complete in 1-2 hours. Looking at MS/HS for my state it appears they’re getting weekly plans that they pick and choose assignments from to do for that week. In terms of ‘classes’ they’ve been doing three thirty minute sessions a week.

High school English teacher here. Can definitely attest to the fact that distance learning is harder than being in the building. I have learned a lot in the past few weeks, but the time consuming piece is trying to reach out and give support to the kids who just can’t structure on their own.. Of course doing all this with my own teen SD’s school work and a toddler at home is a whole new element to trying to get the work done. No complaints here as I still get to do what I love, but worry every day about if this will lead to educator cuts.

UFC 249 canceled and all future UFC events postponed at request of ESPN.

Interesting that Disney is allowing that given all the ad/ESPN+ revenue they'll lose from that.

I’m usually the last to call out a tangent...but why has this become a back and forth about the practicality/application of distance learning and/or school closings?

I think all teachers have done a spectacular job and I wouldn’t say a mean spirited word about the whole process right now...it’s never been planned out before...

...but I’m not a fan of what the education system has become in my lifetime...so under the circumstances just shutting it down a once in lifetime event isn’t the worst idea ever. The majority of kids now will have to work 50+ years anyway...I’m cool with 49+ if that’s the “worst case scenario”

Bad international corona news today...aallllll bad basically...I don’t think a Disney park is opening a minimum 3 months...and that could be optimistic
