We had 15 people with suspected blood clots from the JnJ vaccine and they paused the whole thing for several weeks. That should give people a lot of confidence in the experts and the FDA or CDC. Even the tiniest hint of a possible problem and they paused.
It will give confidence to people who have existing confidence in the experts or know how medical countermeasures are evaluated and implemented, but it will decrease confidence among those who don't or aren't sure. This is one of the reasons why I keep coming back to media narratives. Maybe give an actual expert more than 2 minutes to describe what's going on and what's expected and why.

It didn't. It had the exact opposite effect. Confidence in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine plummeted and has not recovered even since the pause was lifted. And that impact has carried over to the other vaccines as well. The pause may have been well-intentioned, even warranted, but it definitely did not help with vaccine hesitancy.
I agree. It scared people who were already hesitant.

The percent positive of new cases in Orange County for the past 3 days has dropped below 5% -

I hadn't seen that one yet.
There was an executive Order that took effect immediately.

The mandates that are still in effect right now in some counties are for show only at this point. They mean nothing. That is the reason Palm Beach county dropped their mask mandate.

Basically the counties commissioners need to meet to end the mandates. Palm Beach met this week, and I believe OC, Broward, and Dade meet next week.

I would expect the mandates to be dropped next week in those counties.

Edit: There is an meeting next week May 11th and it is on the agenda. So the mandate will probably be removed next week in Orange County.

Something to note, it appears there is a bit of a lag for previous day doses. I'm guessing that local pharmacies or stores are slower to obtain data from than mass vax sites. We nearly doubled our total vaxed on 5/5 from what we thought it was yesterday.

Yes - the numbers backfill as more data comes in. It's been like that since the reports started.

Yes. Its very similar to how deaths are reported here in FL. (awful and I hate how they do it)

The numbers will change over the next couple of days. More will be added. Its horrible i know but thats how they do it here in FL>

I am in the Florida Keys, and have had 2 doses of the vaccine. Monroe County has dropped the mask mandate. Went to the Grocery store and hardware store today. Brought a mask with me, and wondered if I would need it. Hardware store, no more sign out front, when I entered backless, no one said anything, saw one employee without a mask too. Grocery store, no sign, all employees had masks, about 25% of customers had no mask. Interesting observation, all maskless customers were male, except for one female. It has been over a year since I went to the store with no mask, the first thing I noticed was I could smell all the fresh produce when I entered.

Last week I had the thought, that we have to be real close down here to the point where anyone who wants a vaccine has been able to get it.

The next two weeks in Florida will be very interesting. If cases fall here, the rest of the states will begin to drop mask requirements too.

Just my prediction, masks will not be required at WDW in mid July.

We are at the assess your own risk stage of this. AKA the mind your own business stage. You are vaccinated, then don't worry about what other people are doing. Still don't want to be in crowds, avoid crowded places.
We should all be doing some sort of risk assessment when making decisions but when you do, you are doing so while looking at the current rules of the business you are going to deal with. You make that decision with the understanding that those rules will be enforced. Right now, WDW says masks so if someone is going down there, they should expect masks and comply with that rule until WDW says otherwise. Don't want to wear one, don't go. The same is true in the opposite direction, once mask mandates are lifted don't go if you are uncomfortable and don't expect others to mask up just because it's what you want.

Yes, I mentioned that exact thing yesterday, look at the very large jump on 5/3, yesterday it showed as 93k, today it's 122k. That's significant as well as the 5/5 numbers imho.

As much as I wish that would be true I thoroughly expect Disney to be far more conservative with their policy. Perhaps even keep it in line with what they are doing in California.

That's what I figured, this was the first time I bothered to look back. I guess as we shift away from mass sites and more to local stores, we shouldn't panic if we see lower numbers initially.

You have to read the post from today and only look at the oldest number. Write it down, then do the same tomorrow. That should give a pretty good indication of the real trend line, two weeks after the fact. It's a huge pain.

Edit: Not the fault of @DCBaker , the pain is from the source material. The posts are super helpful.
