Not sure if this survey has been posted today here. It looks like people who are not following the vaccine approval process are most likely to not get vaccinated.

Few Americans are very or extremely confident that the first available vaccines will have been properly tested for safety and effectiveness and will be distributed quickly, safely, and fairly. Those who are willing to be vaccinated and those who have been following news about the development and approval process have more confidence, as do college educated and older Americans.
Those who worry that they or someone in their household will get coronavirus, have heard or read about the development of the vaccines, and older Americans are more likely to say they will get a coronavirus vaccine once it becomes available. Black Americans are less likely than other racial and ethnic groups to plan to get inoculated.

If we extrapolate cases to the previous relatively steady state in the early fall (now at a 5.25X Multiple and climbing), seeing 4k deaths a day seems almost certain (when deaths catch up to the current case burden) and perhaps a few isolated days with 5k deaths are already possible.

3 thousand is very quickly going to be considered low.

I truly hope California has effective measures, because on a sheer population scale that is the state most headed for shocking numbers right now. If it was its own country, number one for cases today would be the US, then Brazil, then California.

There is a ton of tension here right now. A lot of "patriots fighting back," this was a bar on a Monday night, when our restrictions went into place, and our sheriffs won't do anything

But we know that closing businesses and stay-at-home orders save lives. It’s a fact.

I just can’t understand why this is such a debated thing... it’s literally like when Ignaz Semmelweis couldn’t get Doctors to wash their hands!!!!
Especially with restaurants when you can literally buy the same exact food cooked by the same exact person and take it home with you to eat. It’s not like the business is even shut down, just the tables. If people cared sooooo deeply about the economy and the fate of small businesses they would continue to patronize them as much or even patronize them more with takeout to help them stay afloat. The truth is people just want to do what they want to do and won’t be told no. It’s a pure lack of self control.

Walt Disney World opened during Florida’s summer surge.
yeah but that's Florida. We have dumb Californians, but Florida is Florida. California is a blue state that believes in science and florida chose to make it political. Yes, spread is occurring from house parties and outings, but sadly, most of the spread comes from frontline essential positions. The communities hit hardest right now are made up of retail employees, minimum wage jobs, and blue collar workers. Of course CA is not going to open Disneyland.

Do you have a link to the contact tracing studies that show that most of the spread comes from frontline essential positions? I know it is anecdotal but none of the places I frequent have had any issues with employees getting COVID. My neighbors daughter works at a nearby Publix supermarket and they haven't had issues among the employees. I live in Broward County, FL which has been a hot spot for most of the pandemic.

If WDW frontline cast was getting infected in large numbers, I'm sure word would be out by now.

Dictators control populations. Desantis is the opposite allowing maximum freedom. Call him what you want but a "dictator" he is not.

Dictators say what THEY want you to do to maintain power. The idea that there is only one way to accomplish that is a little 1940ish in the digital world. It’s been playing in real time.

Next week’s lesson will be about the electoral college and mean, tough old lady with a gavel 😉
