Went to Hersheypark today. There were no plexiglass barricades in between tight queue areas as where in WDW there would be. This is one area where Disney goes up and beyond for safety precautions imo.
Here’s a picture of one of the tight areas. In switchback areas, they would usually leave a lane empty between opposing lanes. This one in the picture was unavoidable really.

As for everything else, majority of people were wearing their masks and trying to social distance. Security and workers who work the measuring stick in the lines were enforcing social distancing and masks. Was a good sight to see for once versus grocery stores and such.
I think the plexiglass between queue lines is a feel-good move more than a practical one. Have you seen the gif of what happens to the moisture particles when someone coughs in a grocery store? They go up and over for several isles, barriers only cause them to go other directions faster.

I'd be more concerned about the dude with his mask under his nose in the back of your photo.

I've seen a number of that, mask under nose.

"SeaWorld Orlando theme park and Aquatica water park are returning to a seven-days-per-week operating schedule. The attractions have been gradually increasing their hours since reopening from the coronavirus pandemic in early June.

SeaWorld and Aquatica still will require that date-specific reservations be made for all visitors, including annual passholders. Reservation are obtained through SeaWorld’s official website.

The seven-day schedule is set to last through Oct. 5, SeaWorld says, and the attractions will continue to operate with limited capacity and other pandemic-related restrictions, including face coverings and temperature screenings.

In addition, SeaWorld is adding more days and longer hours for special events currently underway. The Craft Beer Festival, previously held on Saturdays and Sundays, is expanding to Fridays beginning Aug. 28. The event runs through Sept. 20 and operates throughout the theme park from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m."

I hope further studies show this is not the case....otherwise that's bad news for the vaccine.

According to EpiTwitter it makes the vaccine more vital. EpiTwitter sounds pleased at how this person's body reacted to the reinfection. The T-cells went into action, generated the appropriate antibody response and the person experienced no symptoms the second time. It worked exactly how immunity is supposed to work. The 2nd infection was found when the person returned to Hong Kong after traveling, during a routine COVID screening.

The big unknown is the ability to infect others. If the person was still contagious, it's bad news for natural herd immunity, as it would mean the virus is likely to keep being reintroduced into communities to continue to infect the people who haven't had it yet, by people who wouldn't even know they had been re-infected. A vaccine would give these people protection. The best vaccines can prevent people from being contagious, so there would be reason for people who have had COVID to also be vaccinated. Not just to protect the individual, but to stop transmission.

However, they also say that re-infection means the virus isn't likely to burn out and disappear on its own. The general impression is that this still falls into the "good news, it's acting like we think it should," category, although the media is probably going to freak people out again.

Yeah I usually have my back turned towards them whenever I see someone with their masks below their nose/mouth.

And the example you described is indoors with AC and other variables. The picture I attached was outdoors in the middle of the day when it was in the low 90s. I’m sure that has some type of effect on particles rising then falling, but I get what you’re saying. I saw that gif too!

"Disney has begun to send emails to Walt Disney World and Disneyland Cast Members who have not been called back to work, notifying them that they will remain on furlough until further notice. The email notes that these are “difficult and uncertain times” and that while the initial estimates from Disney indicated that they did not anticipate a closure of more than 6 months, the email says that “business circumstances that [Disney] could not have anticipated” will likely push the closure to more than 6 months.

Disney goes on to say in the email that they “hope that our businesses will be back up and running and that your furlough will remain temporary”. Of course, that last part of the sentence will likely read as concerning for any potential layoffs that might occur as a result of the extended closure and a slow return to what Disney might consider normal."

Expected. Travel/hospitality industry will take at least a couple years to come back. At least. Maybe hurt more than any other industry from this.

I wouldn’t expect too much movement until the positivity rate is consistently below 5%. But I could be wrong. :hilarious:

How about when it's small enough that rapid testing can be done, immediate contact tracing, and isolation, without huge gaps of people slipping through.

Somewhere under 1% or under 0.5% or even less.

Under 5% isn't some wondrous world, it just means we have an idea of how fast community spread is going on instead of just not knowing. It's definitely not under control and moving to containment instead of slowing.

5% is a CDC reopening metric. That’s why I mentioned it. That’s all.

"During today’s media briefing, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings went over the COVID-19 numbers for the county. After noting how low some of the recent numbers have been, Demings clarified that he has no desire to relax the face mask mandate for Orange County."

"Demings went on to note that the face mask mandate has played a critical role in reducing COVID-19 cases in the county. Disney World has not indicated when they might remove a mask mandate for the parks, but it will likely not be anytime soon."

They also removed the recommendation that asymptomatic individuals who have a known exposure get tested. Except if you are in a vulnerable group or following state recommendations.

I could make all sorts of comments inappropriate for this particular thread, but I won't. :p But I expect people will be shocked, shocked, I tell you, about what will happen if the US stops looking for active cases.
