Universal, also, has already started laying off team members. Disney has so far held off on that action allowing currently furloughed employees to keep their health insurance.

I understand the poster being upset, but the anger is misplaced in my opinion. Also, the poster is in much better situation than many other people in the country who have lost their jobs over the last few months.
I don’t know where else the anger should be placed but I totally agree that we are in a better position than others. And worse than others.

here’s our ‘bad’...

Pre-covid: husband had the 3 jobs and made a good chunk more than Unemployment insurance

During Covid: Unemployment kept us above water

currently: making much less now that’s he’s working... significantly less than pre covid and a lot less than UI.

There is CARES act funding to help with mortgage and rent so we felt relieved because we made under the amount for a household of 4, and experienced financial loss due to covid... but when the eligibility came out it turns out you have to actually be in default of your rent or mortgage.

certain situations are falling through the cracks. People automatically assume if you’re back to work you’ll be fine and should be grateful... but they don’t see the whole picture in certain situations. The financial impact on families is just beginning and will impact the economy for many years IMO

So I found a soul mate for the guy who spit on the kid over the mask rules. New business idea...Tinder for the anti-mask crowd. She may just have to wait until he gets out of jail :)

Maybe we’ll all get lucky and this thing will blow on her next “mission”... :cautious:

A follow up to the follow up on the viral photo from the GA school. 9 people have tested positive (6 students and 3 staff)

And tonight they announced the school will be conducting online-only learning Monday and Tuesday while they disinfect the school.

So not in the news stories, but as seen on Twitter. At a Paulding Board of Education meeting in July (there is video of the meeting), one of the Board Members suggested that since Georgia guidelines say that people who have been in "close contact" for 15 minutes need to be identified for contract tracing, that students be re-seated every 14 minutes. So an example of the brilliant minds that are in charge of these teachers' and kids' safety.

...maybe a mask or 2 wouldn’t be such a bad idea too
They've got that covered. Someone is organizing parents and student who want to avoid mandatory masks need to make sure they attend the next Board meeting.

Sounds like out of all the places to target anger, your employer who paid you while they were closed and continues you to pay you (even if not to pre-Covid levels due to the significant impact on their business) would be the last place. In your situation, I'd be pretty thankful and probably wouldn't go on online forums to criticize the very company keeping my family afloat. To each their own.
But... we aren’t afloat. We’re drowning. You’re missing my point. And I’m not criticizing them...it almost sounds like you’re threatening me.

Wild, misplaced paranoia aside - I am simply noting that your original claim that Disney is somehow putting you through "financial hardship" is just factually incorrect.

Apparently you are going through financial hardship. It is also not Disney's fault. Both can be true.

If somehow having your statements (these are your claims not mine) challenged is in some way "threatening" to you, you may want to both stay off of the internet and seek counseling.

The school district is not allowed to require masks.

Untrue, there are districts that are requiring masks, like Gwinnett County which is right nearby. The state public university system is also requiring masks.

The school said that wearing a mask was a personal choice and that there was no practical way to enforce mask requirements. Given that they already have a dress code and they will make students who violate it change or else send them home, I'm not sure why it's not practical.

Here in MA...$300 fine per violation. I think a few of those might convince them to wear a mask. ;)
Where does the $$ go to ? Since some ( residents / small business ) can't pay rent or mortgage on time including property taxes which support social services perhaps the mask violations can maybe help support social services for the county?

Thinking out of the box, since you are at home with your kids, are you a talented cook? Have stuff in your home that could be sold in a garage sale? Some created $$ opportunities by cooking or baking their favorite foods to sell to the neighborhood since a number of families are staying at home instead of in the office. A family near me had a garage sale during the work week and many wearing masks stopped by to check it out. This would have not happened in non covid times. Sell your baked goods while you are at it. Get some helping hands and have a car wash to help earn $$ to help you so you don't drown.

Greetings from the future! I suggest you look into cryogenic freezing and plan to be unfrozen in like 2022 or 2023. Before you do this, I recommend getting your finances in order, and stock up on toilet paper while you're at it. Oh, and don't make any plans to visit Minneapolis around Memorial day.

P.S. Later this week I'm becoming CEO finally!
Is their money in the budget for a coronation ceremony?

Yeah, I submit to eating a big load of humble pie on that prediction.

I'm not sure exactly when I wrote that, but it may have been wishful thinking because I had a conference booked at the Grand Californian. After I arrived, the conference ended up getting cancelled, and we were actually at Disneyland the last day it was open.

Yup, different world we live in now.

Maybe they should spend it on more testing. Not wearing a mask will potentially lead to more spread so put the funds back into testing and tracing.
