I'm asking this from a genuinely apolitical and sincere point of view. Why exactly is it so unpopular to draw a connection to cases from the protests? It's literally one of the most recent overwhelmingly significant gathering of people. Nothing even comes close to comparing to those numbers of people everyday and still ongoing. Why has it become controversial to wonder why those crowds are not being considered? People keep saying masks and outdoors but there were many cities where people were shouting at close range with no mask on.

No offense but the media has become unreliable and our leaders inconsistent. We have had government officials admit on camera to overcounting positive cases. I don't know if it's a rumor but Diblasio was allegedly telling contact tracers not to ask about protests.

This is not a political question either or shouldn't be. I suspect politics are embedded in this but any American should be interested to know why the protests are exempt from investigation. Why aren't we even curious about why the media is looking for anyone besides the protesters as a cause? Covid is still mostly buried in favor of protest coverage. How can we ignore the elephant in the room even if most of us believe the protests are a right? It still could be causing surges.

I find it highly suspicious that these protest crowds aren't leading to infections. It wasn't long ago people were arrested for surfing. I feel like I've stepped into a new dimension.

After a steady decline for April/May, my state has shown an uptick in the past week as well. Deaths and hospitalizations are largely flat (hospitalizations slightly up). Similar to Florida, the median age of the infected has dropped from 51 to 42.

Younger folks are being so stupid. And frankly, they're increasingly the only ones I see in my neighborhood without masks. Aside, of course, from the 80 year-old Greeks who've been in clouds of cigarette smoke since the Earth was created. They've made it this far.

Politics board. I've waded into these waters before and was warned.

I haven’t been on one with one myself yet, but I frequent some coaster forums and the general consensus is it’s not a big deal. Many parks did extensive testing (Sea World testing on Mako generated a lot of online attention) and found that as long as they are properly secured, masks generally stay in place.

Disney’s coasters aren’t among the most forceful out there by any measure, so it shouldn’t be a problem. I think the water rides are a greater issue.
I thought they won't allow masks on water rides because of the danger of self-contamination from wearing a wet mask.

Just like with any large groups that gather with and without masks you are going to see a spike in new cases. This isn’t political it’s science. However some people have made science political so go figure.

I imagine once people realize how crowded the parks still feel or how low the atmosphere does seem to be with limited theater options and live actors not present.
Then you have people who were willing to take the risk thinking they were still getting a similar product. I know they should expect different but at a certain point, it is going to be bad all around.

For example, No Indy Stunt Show or Mermaid has those people roaming around, doing things that are not indoor rides, which will have limited capacity but still have a wait. Major rides will likely not run at efficiency standards of regular times, and must be wiped down in some cases. So capacity is reduced and matches the capacity of the reservation system, especially on full days. All while people who love live performances that feature equity actors are not to be found.

Texas Governor Abbott orders bars to close again and reducing restaurant capacity back down to 50%.

Down river-rafting trips will also not be allowed, along with banning outdoor gatherings of over 100 people unless local officials approve

I never knew how many people detested fireworks, stage shows, live performers throughout the park, character meet and greets, character meals, and parades until COVID hit. Based on these boards, many are very pleased!

Someone has finally looked at the numbers and stepped up. Late but better then never. Good for him.

"TUI has cancelled all holidays to Florida for its customers in the UK and Ireland up to the end of November 2020, "due to the ongoing uncertainty around international travel restrictions and the unprecedented impact of Covid-19".

In a statement the firm said, "The decision has been made following new health and safety measures implemented at Walt Disney World to ensure the safety of its guests.

"These changes would significantly impact the holiday experience for many TUI customers who plan their magical and often once in a lifetime Florida holiday.""

Not quite the 10k I thought would happen , it is going to be higher next week, there are many many more people that will test positive with the virus

That's not the optimism I was looking for...... "not 10k"?

We will have to wait a few weeks to see the death totals and hospital numbers that are driven on the front end obviously from test cases and positivity rate.

I really hope those somehow turn the other way.... But it's hard to hypothesis that that will be the case.
