We just got reservations for Coronado Springs for Mother's Day weekend. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or opinions about this particular resort. The pool area seems to be really cool, but just wanted some first had advice. Thanks!

I really like this resort. My family and I upgraded from All-Star Movies last summer and I absolutely loved it. I would recommend it to anyone. The pool area is incredible, but I thought I read somewhere that it was closed currently for renovations. Anyone know about this?

Be aware that the resort is very large and your actual room may be quite far from the main buildings and pool. The resort busses have multiple transportation stops around the resort, and unfortunately there may be times when the bus is full by the time it arrives at your stop. Don't let this stop you though. The themeing at the resort is simply amazing, and back areas of the hotel are very quiet and peaceful most of the time. The main pool has a great design, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it incredible. An incredible pool would be Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. One of the main eating areas is called the Pepper Market (counter service-type restaurant), and the food quality is pretty good. The prices are a little high for some food items, but overall it's not that bad.

Me Too!!!!

Believe it or not I'll be there Mother's Day weekend also!!!! I've stayed there before and it's my favorite moderate. My husband is the ultimate Disney hater and he likes this resort so maybe the lack of total Disney immersion is a good thing. The pool has a great water slide with a jaguar that spits at you, my kids, ages 5 and 7 love it. The rooms are fine and the food court is high priced but fine. A nice feature is that there are not too many kiddies running all over since it's a convention hotel. It's buses are also not crowded at all. We didn't have problems last time with the buses at all. Hope to see ya there! I'm going to find out if the pool is rehabing...I don't think so.

The Lost City of Cibola Pool was refurbished this past winter, and will be open for your visit. This is a beautiful Resort--a lot of walking, but that never hurt anyone! The food court is the one downside of this Resort, as it is not run by Disney. It has this bogus system where Cast Members seat you and take your plates away, and for just doing that, they automatically tack on a 15% gratuity at check out--really stupid, and it makes it so there is always a line just to get in and find a table. Furthermore, if you don't like Mexican food, it can be kind of bothersome at the food court; while there is American food at the Pepper Market, it is more limited than at other food courts, and, again, I was so annoyed with all the waiting that food courts are supposed to help guests avoid...and the 15% tip. Really dumb set up, and they make you wait in line just to get a free refill if you buy a resort mug. I really hope Disney does not renew the contract on this food court, cuz it's a real pain. But, again, other than that--beautiful Resort. It's my favorite moderate; if they simply fixed the food court, it would be perfect.

Fabulous resort, AWESOME pool area and DogsRule is right on about the food court. As a really nice alternative I ate in the Maya Grill restaurant for breakfast. They have an all you can eat buffet for about the same as we were paying in the food court!!! It is a great place though...you will love it!! Belle

An alternative way to deal with the food court is to tell the host/hostess that you want your food "to go". They'll give you a menu and (I think) either a tray or a bag, and you can go, get your own food, go through the checkout at the exit (without paying the 15% gratuity, since you're not sitting there), and go sit outside in the sunshine looking over the water. The lake is beautiful, especially if you're not looking from an angle where you can see the Swan and Dolphin looming over the whole thing.

Didn't know you could do that--must be something they added since I was there (it's been over four years...). Good deal, though. I'd certainly rather do that--I am more than capable of throwing my own food out and refilling my drinks! They should just do away with the system altogether...

They had that option when I was there for a conference last April. (Week following Easter, big crowds everywhere, but no crowds at all on the CSR buses, because so many of the conference-goers were hanging out and drinking following the sessions, instead of going where the REAL action was! :p :)
