Coronado Springs Questions?

Hi y'all. Just booked a room at the coronado for four nights starting 2/13. I've visited the resort but have never stayed. For those of you who have stayed what building do you recommend?
I saw on wdwig.com that Cabanas 9b is good as it is near both the main bldg. and the main pool. I had requested the casitas but I think I will be calling to change.
Also is worth asking for a water view? As moderates don't have balconies is it worth having that view. If I do get the water view will peole be constantly walking past my weekend.
I've noticed alot of complaints about the food court at Coronado, but I recall hearing that they had changed the set up recently. Has it improved? Do you think bfast at Maya Grill is a better idea?
Does the Coronado have any special resort only snacks..a la pralines and beignets at Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter respectively.
Lastly, if anyone hears about an e-ride night that weekend please let me know.
Any comments about your stay at the resort and about the above would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are thinking of staying in the Castitas, I would recommend building #4. This is a fairly close walk to the food court and main lobby, but it unfortunately puts about as far from the main pool as you can get. On the other hand is bus stop #2 is very close and is the first stop which almost you will be able to get a seat even on busy days and get you aff quick at night. If you are going to be spending some time in the pool, building #4 has its own pool and is also th only lap pool if you like to swim. If you get a water view room try to get on the 3rd floor you will probably get a better view.

I thought the food was OK, but mostly ate only breakfast there. How can you screw up breakfast!:veryconfu

i had my best luck in 7 b

its a trip from the main building but its close to the small and main pools so you get privacy when you can. the food court is cool nothing grat just average but the breakfast at maya grill was really good i enjoyed and i hate most breakfast foods like eggs and stuff. now the room coice i had was a far wallk but the bus stop is right there thats whats important to me the main building isnt as important.

another thing is the busses are usually always empty thts the one thing i love about that resort. have fun!! ill be there feb 4-11

hope that helps a little

that would be casitas im almost positive. its a walk from the main building but there are some neat rock structures and a small watering hole back in that area it is kind of nice as far a water view room goes its definitely not worth it in my opinion.

The Casitas are all located in buildings 1-5 only. Anything other than that is either in the Rancheros or the Cabanas area. There is an absolutely amazing website dedicated to this resort, but I will post it when I get home as I have it saved on my home computer!!! I have always stayed at the Casitas and enjoyed it. Are you going to be having a car or taking the busses? That is a consideration for where you would want to stay. The Main Pool area is absolutely astounding and you should make a trip over there at least once during your stay. The hot tub in that area s HUGE!!!!
As far as breakfast, I did like the Maya Grill which is an all you care to eat buffet style breakfast for not so much more than you would spend in the food court. My usual travel companion doesnt do well at food courts so a restaurant at least for breakfast is essential.
As far as a water view here, I dont have any preference for that but it may put you closer to the pools but further away from teh busses so I think it is a draw here.
Good luck and have an wonderful time!!!

7B is in the ranchos section.

My wife and I stayed at Coronado Springs this past November in Casitas #2. Our room was on the ground floor facing the quiet pool right next to the fitness center.

It was a 3 minute walk to the food court and main building... almost entirely under cover.

The decor is nice but I personally thought it lacked a magical theming of some of the other moderates.

In the past we've stayed at Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans French Quarter. We just loved both. We thought both felt magical and, even though Caribbean Beach is very large, nice and cozy given the low buildings spread out.

Casitas felt very much like a motel, a pink and orange one, but still a motel. There are some nice fountains but the buildings are all 4 stories and close together with mostly concrete walkways and small planters between them. Given that this is right next to the convention center, that makes a lots of sense. Few families were staying around us, mostly Police officers and single business people attending the conference.

We got a much different impression walking around Ranchos and Cabanas. Ranchos has some great southwestern theming to it with the painted rocks, cactus flowers, and dry creek gradens everywhere. Cabanas is a lot like Caribbean Beach with corrugated tin roofs. Both are lower buildings spread out a bit farther. We really wished we'd been able to get a room in one of those.

Water views would be great only if you are not on the ground floor or near stairs. Then you will have your neighbors or the house keeping CM's walking in front of your window. At least it's not looking at the parking lot.

But one of the best resources online for Coronado Springs is http://www.wdwmemories.com/csr/ Lots of great pictures of the various areas. To see a map of the whole property go to http://www.wdwmemories.com/csr/mapsmall.jpg

Enjoy your trip!

Hey Belle ..thanks for your post. :)

I'm actually going to be renting a car. As i tend to do dinners at the resorts it saves so much time, as there is no direct resort to resort transportation.

I found another website recently which mentioned Cabanas 9B as an ideal location.

Do the Casitas have interior walkways or are they like every other moderate resort where the entrances are on the outside. I know the Cabanas and Ranchos are like that, that is one of the reasons i'm hesitating about the water view. Although having visited the Coronado before it really is such a beautiful lake.

I can tell you all of the walkways are outdoors similar to all the other Moderates. Some have a covering over your head, but not really a hallway within a building as such. As I said Ill post the other website when I get home!! Belle

I just returned from Coronado under a month ago, and I stayed in building 8B. It was great! I thought it was a nice distance to teh food and pool. And the bus stop was right there. Casitas is eh, I like the theme of Cabanas a lot better. YES, water view is worht it if you can get an upgrade. Theres nothing like waking up to that view when you come out of your room. It's even better from the upper lever.
The food is good i think. Maya Grill has a buffet every morning for breakfast..i believe it's $10/person. We went to the Pepper Market every morning, and thought it was great. Nice little kids meanls, the waffles were great, eggs, toast, lots of stuff! It's really not as bad as people make it seem.
The pool is great! We went there every day, even though it was December. Best pool I've been to.
Coronado is great because the buses are never crowded. I think this is due to the fact that its a convention resort, and less vacationers use the bus. I can't tell you how great it is when you need a bus after wishes and all the other busews have people standing, and you can wlak on and get a seat. That might just be during off season, but it was the only resort I saw with seats on the bus.
Great Resort! I'd go with cabanas. Have great time!:D

Thank you Heyyall for the information. I'm definitely going to request Cabanas now.

Belle - yes the information was a tremendous help. I'm definitely psyched now about staying there. I know everyone on this site and even deb will's on wdwig.com rave about PO-RS and to a lesser extent POFQ, but I wasn't that happy with Riverside. I found it so noisy and crazy. Plus although I love kids, the resort was just running wild with kids. I also didn't like the food court. I did love Boatwrights though. That was a great breakfast. I did like FQ though. But my traveling companion, my best bud, hated it. Seeing the wbistes reminded me of my brief visit to the coronado in the summer of 2002, (I also did, heaven forbid, some pool hopping although I was staying at RS - for those of you cursing me the pool was empty and it was merely a quick dip) and I found the resort to be really beautiful. I had forgotten about the hammocks and the sandy shore around the lake. And as heyyall said it was quite empty despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend. Seeing the websites i remembered why i thought it was so nice. I also didn't know they had limited room service that is a definite plus. I just found out i may be postponing my trip to either labor day or memorial day, but if I don't get to go, I will definitely stay here.

Hey Dox, I am glad to be of help. I can tell you this resort seems to be not as many kids as PO-Riverside. It just seems to be a more adult type of resort, probably due in part to being a convention center which is just fine with me also!! I like kids, but noit while getting overrun with them! Belle

I stayed at Casitas 3. It was 2 minute walk to the main building (where the food is) and about 5 minutes to the to the Pyramid.

I also had concerns about the food. But, I thought the food was much better then everyone complains about. There was alot of choices.
