Coronado Springs: Casitas, Ranchos, Cabanas?

Can someone give me some information on the difference between the different part of Coronado Springs? We'll be staying there for the first time in January and are wondering where we should request to stay.

You can request, but there's no guarantee. We asked for Cabanas last time, got Ranchos, and then were upgraded to a VIP Suite in Casitas due to a maintenance issue.

Casitas is farthest from the pool, Ranchos is farthest from the lobby and restaurants, and Cabanas is farthest from the fitness center.

Lots of photos and useful info on Coronado on Buzz's Unofficial Coronado Springs web site:

You'll probably hear from Buzz himself soon enough.

Thanks for the link and the info. We've never stayed there before so I'm really excited since everything will be new for us.

I like the cabanas for their proximity to everything, the casitas for the beautiful courtyards and fountains and the ranchos for seclusion.

This is what I thought of as well on my recent trip.

Our room # was 4353. On the map, it's to the left, with the grassy circle:

Back then, it seems SO far from the Dig Site and El Centro, yet looking at the map again, it is almost of equal length.

IMO, the best place with a closer approximation to those two locations are at either 9A or 9B.

Fortunately, the bus for Bus 2 goes to 3, 4, and back to 1, since 2 is the first stop for them.

Which means instead of walking, you could go hop on a bus and it takes you to El Centro. :D

As for the Dig Site, it looks like Bus Stop 4 is the closest one....

One advantage to the Casitas is that they have 3 and 4 story buildings so on the upper floors you can have a nice view of other landmarks on the WDW property. From the walkway in front of my 4th floor room and partly from my window you could see the Swan and Dolphin, Tower of Terror, and some other higher landmarks. I would assume from other locations in the building you could see Everest and Summit Plummet as well as possibly Spaceship Earth.

Coronado Springs

My wife and I swear by Coronado Springs! You'll love it! It's much quieter than any other resort on the property, primarily due to the fact that there are a lot of business people and fewer children. The "quiet pools" are QUIET! We love Casitas Building 4. The bus stop (#2) and the quiet pool are right outside, and it's literally a 4-minute walk to El Centro. You won't be disappointed! And yes, there's a GREAT view from the top floors.

We will be staying there for our first time as well in February. Being closer to everything was priority on this trip so we requested Casitas or Cabanas for our trip. Although, after checking out Buzz's site (which has tons of info, very helpful) I found that you can basically hop on a park bus to go to-from the main building, so that lessens the distance issue.

Our last trip at Contemporary we were out pretty much as far as you could get in the Garden section. It had a great view of the lake and was nice and quiet, but was a 20 minute walk to get my mug refilled.

Hey there, I absolutely love Corondo Springs, it is one of my favorite resorts!! I too suggest requesting a room in either the Cabanas or the Casitas. Ranchos is the furthest away from El Centro, but pretty close to the Dig Site pool. We stayed in Casitas 3 in December and were pleased with the location. It was less then a 5 minute walk to El Centro and the main bus stop! Have a fabulous trip!

We just stayed there in August and loved it! We were in Casitas building 5. It was about 5 minutes to walk to the Dig Site Pool and maybe 7 minutes to the main building. But it was close to Bus Stop #2 which is the first pick up and drop off at the hotel, so you get a seat first and then are the first to be dropped off after the park.
I called about 10 days before and requested Casitas 5 after much research and we were given our request along with a beautiful view of the lake! Ranchos seemed to be way in back. Good luck and try to make your request, they were so nice..Enjoy!

I've also wondered what area to request when we finally stay there.
Thanks to this thread, I think I'll just request a high floor level and let fate decide after that.
