As the wife and I were having lunch at Coral Reef a couple weeks ago we noticed a "Fish Guide" on the table. Inside it had a couple of facts which I thought were very neat.
  • The Living Seas main environment stretches 203 feet in diameter with walls 48 feet high.
  • Spaceship Earth, which is 160 ft in diameter, could fit inside the aquarium with room to spare.
  • The main environment holds 5.7 million gallons of manmade sea-water, a standard swimming pool holds 20,000 gallons of water.
  • One inch of water from the surface of the main environment can fill a standard swimming pool.
  • The acrylic windows in the Coral Reef Restaurant are 8 inches thick and have very little distortion or magnification of the marine life and objects in the ocean environment.

*Do not get up front seating. People will attempt to stand in front of you and take pictures.(very annoying)

And here's another way to picture how much water that is. The Wave Pool at Typhoon Lagoon has just over 3 million gallons of water. So the aquarium then holds almost twice as much as the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon.

My favorite part of the Coral Reef is getting to pick out your fish from the tank and then having them cook it for you....that was good stuff!!!! :)

Those poor people who work that podium probably get asked all night for "front row" window seats.
We had an early lunch there in July and before we sat I did ask if we could be next to the glass, the CM said I'll see what I can do. Well she did good, we were the 5th group seated and we went right up to the first window, absolutly the most incredable view!!! :D And no one tried to get a pic while we sat there, even when the sea turtle, (very big I might add) came up to the glass.
