I've heard this way too much . . .

and it still happens. Disney almost only promotes to mis-management at the present time....

off topic, you see the DLR exhibit pics?

with some exceptions (you know who you are), you don't become a manager at WDW because of your decision making abilities, people skills, or just plain ability to manage... ANYTHING.

You become management at WDW because you were the one who got lucky, kissed enough booty, and met the requirements in the job description.

Anyone can get a bachelors degree and have good attendance at work... but that doesn't mean they're a leader.
i think this happens in a lot of business environments and work places. i know it is like that in my office.... :lookaroun

Fortunately that's not the case at my current job, but boy have I met some dimwits with degrees in past jobs. It's not just a question of having leadership skills, it's just some people are good at regurgitating facts, but they don't have an ounce of basic common sense.

sounds like my boss... comes in daily, does nothing, cuts the budget some more, collects her bonus, and goes home

The pointy haired boss from Dilbert! Very funny, but scarily accurate.

I'll just add...

At most attractions, during a breakdown/101 there's rarely a reason for a manager to be there. Usually just a simple reset and things are back up and running. If not, just a standard evac the CMs should be able to safely preform in their sleep.

we cannot evacuate till we have a manager present.

Lots of times COP will stop like that when someone leaves while rotating...and no it wasnt me working at COP when this occurred. I speil as soon as it stops...i adore speiling.

If only people would not leave during the show. I'm with Tiggerspooh on this one, I speil right after something stops and it was not me over there at that time.

The thing is, Disney didn't use to be that way. It used to have almost a college atmosphere, in which apathetic management wasn't tolerated, and people took pride in their park.

should meet my first assistant. my dad came in once to order breakfast, he had like two guys in front of hima nd another behind him. the first assistant sent someone to clean the lobby, the same person who was on the front registar and the ONLY one on the front registar. She looked at the line, looked at drive thru and then walked off. she didn't come back until the line was gone.

We had a very nice hydraulic fluid leak on the father in act one tonight :) that was a good time lol. It was just one little o-ring that broke, but it still caused a leak.

I'd also like to point out that little can be done about "slow" animatronics (ie when they're out of synch with their audio or jerky), aside from replacing them completely.

From the beginning of it all until a few years ago all the animatronics used an analogue wiring system to activate their fluid valves to make them move - the problem is that these physical connections decay over time and the signal strength is diminished. Nowadays all the new AA's use digital signals, so decay over a period of time is very unlikely for them...just think, stich will look just as AWESOME in 10 years as he does now in his awesome, wonderful, entertaining attraction! :hurl:

I think it is soooo sad and poor show on Disney's part to not have done anything with CoP. It's a shame they will waste soo much money on that stupid stitch ride and they won't fix a classic one. I'd rather go on CoP 20 times then go on stitch once. Goes to show how much they actually care about Walt and what he would have wanted. It's a shame everything is about money money money. Such a shame. CoP better be open when I'm there in Nov. or Im gonna throw a fit!!! :goodnevil

Same thing happened to me with COP. Everything came to a haulting stop except the voices in the ride! It was sooo annoying because CM's didnt direct on what to do. It was like that for 10 minutes! I love COP...I wish they'd get that together.
