I am glad that you are all thinking this way! Yep, Disney would be dumb to close it. Yep, I'd probably take care of CoP if I had the chance!

I refuse to believe anything but hard facts when it comes to Carrousel of Progress's demise.

Too many people have said that it was closed for good...then it reopened...just for a while..but it reopened. I believe someone on this board even said they saw someone carrying pieces of the ride out...but it reopened.

When the building is gone...and that cute little audio-animatronic dog is sitting in MY living room, barking and wagging his tail, THEN and ONLY then will I believe the ride is closed for good.:animwink:

I think that if CoP was moved to EPCOT I think it would suffer the same fate as Horizons. Like Cop, Horizons had the emphasis of the family and people today go to theme parks for thrills not for a lesson on morals.

Epcot is being transformed into a large thrill ride. Starting as far back as Body wars in WoL, to the alteration of WoM into Test Track and the decontsruction of Horizons which will become Mission Space in a few years, we're going to probably even see fast past action pact rides in the revamped JII or in the Living Seas. Maybe in the near future we'll see Tokyo Disney Sea's Stormrider between the Land and Seas.

There is a slight historical difference between horizons and CoP tho....Horizons (although a CLASSIC) was not as historically important to WDW as CoP is...so the move wouldnt kill it..if anything it would just help preserve it a little longer..

A Weather pavilion could be done with a Stormrider type ride. Maybe a Soarin' type ride to make it different from the simulator. The weather does seem to pervade our lives and it is quite varied. Much is made of its prediction, study, and general effect on us.

The only "problem" I have with that is people would pass it off as a rip off of "Twister". If any of you have ridden the original Stormrider, you would know its much better than universals cheap knockoff....unfortunatly..the general public HASNT...so it may cause conflict.

It is not a bad idea. Maybe if they use a HURRICANE instead of a tornado which it would be a flagrant copy of Twister. But with Florida's problems with hurricanes I don't think they will risk to create a ride with that thematic, maybe another tragedy will happen and they will be forced to close it.

I think Disney has made its mind up, and they will do what they feel is best for the company/cost instead of what we think... I still say its a kick in the teeth to the Disney family taking a ride that Walt showcased etc and pulling the plug during the 100 celebration but oh well.... I have it on film probably not as good as Grizz has it but the memories are there for good same with TimeKeeper.

Yes..a Hurricane sim would be a VERY bad idea, kinda like how universal but Earthquake in California....

Disney most likley HAS already decided the fat of CoP, but they may be postponing it because of various reasons...I think we all pretty much know that its pretty much gone...now the question is just WHEN?

I can't say much...but Disney won't know what's coming if they close "Carousel" ...;)... I would say move it to the 8th land at Magic Kingdom...a "surprise" land for all of the classic attractions....Tiki, Progress, Bears, etc...or just add it as a land to California's 3rd park...but that means I would have to MOVE there...
