I called Mr. Weiss' secretary and she connected me to some Magic Kingdom Operations secretary. Anyway, the secretary said that CoP will be closed permanetly.

This is BAD. Looks like Disney is just getting snuggled into their beds when a nightmare is about to attack. I will try to get more info before I go to certain measures....

COP

This is exactly what the CM at Boardwalk told me would happen, but then i got skeptical when the new generic (dateless and timeless) guide maps came out on Jan 1, still listing Timekeeper and COP, with no hours listed for their operation. The CM did sound convincing though, so although i hate to say it, im pretty sure COP is onto (hopefully) newer and better things.....lets just hope they dont leave the building sitting there (Horizons, 20K, etc) without anything going on......

If anyting it's against being anti-progressive! If it's the last scene you hate, it's the last scene we'll modify...though I really don't see a problem with a gap... ..I suppose I am scared of how Disney'll "mess this one up"...

DITTO - EPCOT would be great!!! But if it can't be anywhere else, I think it should stay. I think it will be much better of at my proposed 'Fourth Park' under the General Discussion.

Well..a whole park to old Disney rides would be cool....for us...but think of the people who were glad to see em go...

Ah, not the old...the classic! And with a VERY new touch. There would be different lands...the lost Disney...the Classic Disney...the Unseen Disney (i.e. Museum of the Wierd) and maybe even a VERY futuristic resort right next door modeled after Walt's EPCOT visions...

Hope you are wrong

I just hope that you are wrong, Grizzly, and that the secretary only meant for this "season." I know that it is likely to be replaced at some time in the future, but I still hope that it will at least stay through this celebration.

A move to EPCOT would make sense (as it is the ride that most gave rise to the concept of EPCOT), but I think that would be too costly to be likely.

Well..id say if it doesnt get moved to epcot..then move it to the smithsonian where it REALLY belongs..(no..not because its old..but because of its historial siginficance)..

They definatally wont just destroy it, that would be monumentally stuipd...and they know that.

Give it to Grizzly. I think he'd take better care of it than disney does and I won't miss it at all...maybe another character meet and greet??? (kidding...I'd like to see a Soarin' attraction...Future of Flight...we kinda lost that area when buzz rolled in)

C.O.P played a great park in Tomorrowland, which included a futuristic view...from yesterday. But with NEW Tomorrowland, things are different. There are a mixture of Old T. and New T. So it derived in a place where you can see both: the future and yesterday's future, which I really think it's wrong. How come a show like Alien Encounter meets CoP , or Astro Orbiter is along with Space Mountain, and Buzz Lightyear was next to Time Keeper...This doesn't sound logical. So if they adaptate older rides to the NEW TOmorrowland I would be happy, however, it happens that I like the old rides, indeed, to things are difficult and messed up...

I really hope COP is not gone forever. Seasonal I can see thats no problem.. but to get rid of it during this 100year celebration I see as the biggest kick in the face to Walt. Why your at it why not change Epcot's name thats only his dream too. So it doesnt draw the largest crowds etc BUT it does help take the load off rides that are bogged down beyond even fast pass helping. And its a slow moving quiet not scary rides for the whole family. I mean come on prtend it August in Florida about 99 degrees with no wind etc and your fast pass for SM is not good till 3 in the afternoon and its 12 now I would go to COP to cool off till my time, then hit TTA

I just hope Disney does show some compasion and not shut this ride down perm... They can pick a better time to do that, and or move it to Epcot theres plenty of space out there for it. just my 2 cents

rides do not stay "open seasonally" for long. It's a waste of time, and eventually the opinion is "why do we even pay for it to stay in working order for when we feel like opening it?" The longer Carousel stays "open seasonally", the greater the likelihood that it will close for good.
