Out of interest, what is it that does justify the cost of upgrading to a moderate if you do have kids? The pools, rooms, something else?

We don't have kids so I wouldn't know. I think most people say the larger rooms, the pools with water slides, and people claim the transportation is better.

We either usually stay at Pop Century, or book a deal with a not-to-be-named travel agency (on this specific site) for a decent discount on a deluxe.

I would suggest not upgrading. You said you're already at about 9000, right? And upgrading your resort would 5500 to that? That's a price increase of almost 50%. If the buses are what's worrying you about the values, the idea to just use an Uber is a much better and cheaper option (especially since subpar bus service is actually a complaint I've seen about the WL, too). I completely get the urge to go all out and splurge for a trip when you know you probably will not be back for long time, but in this case I think you would be a lot happier just putting that money towards a house- or maybe squaring it away for your next trip, however far away that might be ;).

I really like how you put this!! Great way to make us think.
I could definitely afford the upgrade, I just dont know if i can justify it.
Maybe staying, saving the $5500 to really make our trip enjoyable in other ways would be a better option. hmm... Thank you for your input!!
Your welcome. Weve done several of the tours that greatly plussed our Disney time. They vary in content and topical insight the guests are given into the parks and the Disney company. If that interests you, check out what each offers and would be of more interest to your liking. They are all well done and worth the time and cost IMHO.

So! We've decided its definitely best to NOT upgrade and spend the money to enhance our trips in other ways.

We have booked The Ultimate Day Of Thrills Tour and The Ultimate Adventure Nights Tour. I never even knew these existed!
I think this will be a lot better for us. Its added $1800aud to our trip, but 16 of the best/popular attractions are included over 2 days. It means no worrying if i cant get FPs, no rope drop to close (though we might for a few days but it wont be a requirement!) and just a lot let stress for the whole trip. Even if HS is at capacity one day, we can just skip it because we cant to fussed with SW:GE.

I think for us, this is the best thing I've randomly stumbled upon!

I'm glad you found that works for you!
