Hello!
My trip to the Contemporary is quickly approaching and I wanted to get going on my online check in. I'm staying in the Tower but have Bay Lake views and not MK views. I was wondering if you all had any advice on which room request boxes I should check and if you all knew which of these had a higher chance of me being upgraded to an MK view room:p. I know chances are slim, but it has happened to us in the past! Here are the options:
  • Balcony
  • Odd Room Number
  • Corner Room
  • Upper Floor
  • Ground Floor
  • Near Elevator
  • Near Transportation
  • Patio
Thanks for all the help! Can't wait to be back in the World!

I would pick an upper floor. Don't hold your breath for an upgrade to MK view but it doesn't hurt to ask when you get your checkin packet. :)

For what it's worth, I have stayed in the Tower with both the MK and Bay Lake views and I like the Bay Lake view better! While it is cool to see the MK, there is also a large, well-lit parking lot below and those lights can really make for a not-so-great view at night. Whereas on the Bay Lake side you see the pool, boat dock and lake. And in the distance you can see the bungee jump on International Drive along with several hotels, etc though all of that is admittedly somewhat off in the distance. So I am not really sure I would consider it an upgrade even if you got it. Of course seeing the fireworks from your balcony is pretty cool and you can only see them on the MK side, though there are plenty of other fireworks viewing options.

Enjoy your stay at my favorite (but expensive!) resort!

Ground floor and patio are both moot, since the TOWER rooms begin at the 5th floor

Thanks for all the input so far! I know everyone says rooms above Chef Mickeys are noisier than the others, but does anyone know if rooms near transportation or elevators are not great either?

The elevators are in the center of the building, the rooms are along the edges on both sides. Picture a capital letter H. The rooms run along the long lines in the H and the elevators are in the middle of the smaller middle line.

There are no rooms sharing walls with the elevator shafts so elevator noise is not an issue at The Contemporary.

"Near transportation" is also a funny option because you have to use the elevators that @DougK mentioned to get to the monorail. MK view rooms on the 5th floor might be a tad less quiet because the monorail is directly beneath those rooms but I have never heard any complaints.

And there are also no rooms closer than others to the bus stop or boat dock since again, you need to use the elevators.

We have enjoyed tower visits and had both even and odd # MK view rooms. Low by monorail and chef mickey's end. Neither was noisy overnight when we were sleeping although both added some noise when they were operating. Since we were in parks early and all day until parks closed, it really didn't bother us too much. Odd # room if you can get it but who really watches or appreciates fireworks/castle from bed. We greatly enjoy comfort but we are in WDW for such a short time that we use the chairs on the patio to view our favorite vista both early in AM and late in PM.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Do you think not even checking in online and just waiting to do it at the front desk will call for a bigger chance of an upgrade?

The last time I was at CR, I reserved a garden wing room. I requested "near Transportation" and ground floor since I knew those rooms had the patio. When I arrived, I reported to the online checkin stand, and received my packet. We were upgraded to the a Theme Park View tower room. I think we were on the 7th floor.....SO I didnt have to ask for it. it just happened. Later, they explained that they had the room inventory available.
We got lucky!
